In November 2011, the owners of the Chicago Cubs bought property across the street from Wrigley Field from McDonald's Corp. for $20 million.

Damn, never knew they got hosed by Mickey D for that small chunk of real estate. The hotel idea is good, more private developers would be even better...b/c I still don't foresee the city coughing up non-existent $$.

Isn't this old news? The day they bought the property they said they'd be putting a hotel there with a McDonald's on the first floor.

I recall the purchase but not the actual ideas behind how to develop it. However the plan as outlined in the article includes having a McDonald's integrated into whatever they build there. Plus they still haven't figured out what to do with the chunk of triangle that's right next to Wrigley.

Renovations are needed, and I think adding the Hotel across the street where the McDonald's currently is will certainly help a lot.

I'm curious to see what plans are going to be revealed later today (1:30). It seems like it will be big news as they have a time for it and they said they didn't want to leak any surprises.

I have a much, much better idea for the organization as well as the fan base.

Use the Kane County facility in Geneva.

Isn't that in Wisconsin? I don't think you can put the Cubs there...

We can fix that, and bring in more restaurants for concessions etc.

Plus Cubs are already here come April.

It's in the burbs man. That's not ideal at all.

Wrigley Field rennovations will cost about 300 million over 5 off-seasons.

The logistics of scheduling 80 plus games in a shared facility is very difficult. Putting 40 games on the south side and 40 out here makes better sense than Milwaukee.
