Tried to read this as fast as I could and a few of you were arguing back and forth so quickly that I couldn't get my point in.

1. None of you have read this book so you have no idea whether or not it is a "how to" guide that provides step-by-step instructions on how to seduce boys, or to rape children or any other thing.

2. The government didn't get involved in this as they shouldn't have.

3. Amazon has a right to sell the book and as it has been pointed out by a few of you, they have other titles which are similar so why pull this book and keep the rest?

4. Someone brought up the point of women having babies at 14 (I think it was KOTL) which has somehow become unacceptable in modern times. We just take the word "pedophile" and automatically conjure mental images of creepy guys in vans cruising the local elementary school trying to lure 5 year old boys into their vehicle. Does it make any difference if the boy is 16 and is a willing participant in the "seduction"? Are the 14 year old sluts who look, dress and act like a 25 year old (and who **** like them) somehow being corrupted simply by having sex with a man over 18? This whole idea of AGE being the predominant factor of what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to sexuality is quite fucked up if you ask me. There are 16 year old girls who are more mature and have more life experience than some 30 year old women. We just look at the age and try to attach some sort of level of maturity and that doesn't always work.

5. Someone else pointed out that the book will not be the cause of someone getting raped. The rapist either had that predisposition or not. Someone who never thought of something like that didn't just wake up one day, read this book and go "Wow, now I know how to get away with it, so I'll go find some boys to make love to."

I think I agree with TJD on this one. You may not like the content, and you may find it disgusting, but that doesn't give you the right to censor it.

It boils down to this: Teach your children what is right/wrong, have an open communication relationship with them, and pray to God that nothing like this ever happens to them. Rapists, pedophiles, murderers........they have always been around. This is nothing new. The rules have not changed.

Yeah and its completely irrelevant as to how many people think its disgusting or how many people feel the same as you do on any particular topic. None of that is the point. Things like that are distractions to what the main concerns should be. In this case, free speech. There are pros and cons to EVERYTHING but I'd much rather have that freedom than not.

Sorry you don't find it disgusting but that is exactly the point in this case.......

And did it ever occur to you that maybe just as much of a problem is that people like this pedophile hide beyond the almighty freedom of speech to spew garbage such as this?

How many countless others do exactly the same thing? Neo Nazis? Aryan Nation? NAMBLA? KKK? NSM? But I suppose we should all just defend their actions as well so long as we're nice and comfy and we all have our freedom to do whatever we want, right???

Whatever..

Yeah that kinda is the definition of freedom. Or would you rather live in a nation that isn't free the government is involved in everything, you kinda like China. You protest they arrest you.

With free speech or freedom you have to take the good with the bad. You cannot have your cake and eat it too

The only thing I right away disagree with you about JHF is, they showed an interview of the guy on the news yesterday....dont ask me which channel, I was cooking last night (go figure....equality in the house and all) and the author flat out said that it is a guide for a pedo to follow to lessen his chances of getting caught. If that doesn't say "It's a how to book" then I dont knwo what I am talking about.

Here is a point a number of people have missed in all of this: it was only available electronically, which to me says no truelly reputable publisher was willing to touch it.

Being a parent, this kind of crap scares the hell out of me, but it is my job to teach my kid not to get himself in any kind of a situation that something bad can happen to him. This sick bastard is entitled to write whatever the **** he wants, It is up to the individual to not buy it and promote it.

Even so, BHC, let's say it is a how-to guide...well, then as a parent there is a new threat to your kids and it's your job to learn about the threat, how to defuse it, and teach your kids that so they can protect themselves.

Otherwise, it would be like arguing way back near the turn of the century that horseless carriages should not be able to go over 15 miles an hour at any time because someone could get hurt. Instead we taught our kids to look both ways before crossing the street.

My last paragraph says the same, it's up to me to teach my kid to not get in that kind of suituation or guard himself against these types of people.

Sorry for misinterpreting you then. I just get sick of these parents that see something that could threaten their kids (like Janet's Jackson's breasT...OMG!!!) and expect everyone else, inculding the government to roll over and make this world a sanitized and sterile place.

Hell, a number of years back I went to a Portland Beavers AAA baseball game...and parents had their kids at the game...not with a baseball mitt...but BIKE HELMETS!!!!

And no, it was not a case of the kid rode their bike and the parents didn't want them to lose their helmet. The parents literally thought their kid would get conked in the head and didn't want them hurt.

Parents like that, the ones that expect others to raise their kids, piss me off. You procreated and decided to bring that child into the world, it is your fucking job to raise and provide for that kid. Not me, not everyone else, not the Gov't, YOU. They actually piss me off more than the ones who try to tell me how to raise my kid....like if Littleman is acting up in a store and I swat him on the ass...."You shouldnt do that, that is abusive" **** you, next time he starts to act up, and I ask him what happened the last time, I guarantee he'll remember the consequences and not act up.

Now as far as the whole janet jackson example, my 5 year old would have yelled "Daddy look at her booby!!!!

For the most part this societies TERROR when it comes to sex, is so friggin ludicrous.

You can show all the violence and killing you want in graphic detail on basic cable, God save you if you show a boob, or use naughty language.

I don't understand it, this is great for law enforcement, get a list of the fucked up people who buy the book and watch what they do. Basically its like selling a petter ass a badge that shows "I have a chemical imbalance in my brain that causes me to love children." There's books on murdering people also, and murder is worse than pedophilia, but in a way less screwed up.

I don't understand how people say taking this book off the shelves violates free speech.

AMAZON IS NOT A GOVERNMENT OWNED COMPANY... it has nothing to do with government! They have a choice whether or not to sell the book. I don't think any person suggested the government get involved, but for the publisher/Amazon to be responsible enough to keep the book where it belongs -- off the market.

There is no censorship here from the government, period. Its just plain common sense and morals that come into play here. Your freedom is just as safe as it was yesterday because there is no such law that says the book can't be sold, but the fact that a reputable business like Amazon decided to carry the book is what sets people off.

Like I've said before -- let the guy sell the book, but let him do it from his basement -- or better yet, let him do it on the streets, so he can get the **** beat out of him.

Unfortunately, the people who are waving the consitition around and screaming about how it is a free speech issue haven't read it or they would know that..

I believe that's already been pointed out a few times in the thread but that little detail has been ignored..

Ton, Rdr you are absolutely correct, Amazon does not have to sell it, or did not have to sell it. I dont recall anyone arguing that point, however.

Nope not me who said that.

I don't agree with the book period and agree with Ton. If they guy wants to sell it, let him do it on the streets. That way when he asks people to buy it they can pay him with their first in his face.

Amazon is under a lot of fire now...

Amazon's new investigation

Amazon's headache isn't over: MSNBC has identified nude photos and videos of children for sale on the site. The company hasn't yet discussed pulling The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure, and its author is being monitored by police.

Prodded by anti-child pornography activists, MSNBC writes,

Nudist videos from Eastern Europe appear on the U.S. Amazon retail site; meanwhile, books and videos that feature scantily clad pre-pubescent Eastern European and Asian girls, specifically stated by an independent website as being between the ages of 11 and 17, are listed on Amazon properties in Japan and elsewhere, and on Yahoo in Japan. That there are more books and videos of this nature on Amazon and other online retailers is highly likely.

It's not clear whether these items constitute child pornography, because as one lawyer tells MSNBC, child nudity alone does not necessarily meet the legal standard.

A broader Amazon decision-making framework hasn't been explained, though one may be forthcoming. The Los Angeles Times and others have pointed out that one similar book remains. Understanding Loved Boys and Boylovers, which caused a pre-social media firestorm in 2002 at World Net Daily's instigation, remains on sale
.

Forget Amazon, won't ever purchase anything off that site if they are going to allow this kind of shit on the site.
