YES he MIGHT be better which is why YOU LET HIM PLAY FIRST TO REMOVE THE "MIGHT" then you "KNOW"
And what’s the difference when Fields is going to play NO MATTER WHAT. Either way, when Fields is 100% ready, he’s going to PLAY whether our o line is bad, mediocre or phenomenal. So there is literally no reason to find out ahead of time

maybe depending on how bad the OL is after the backups come in.
And if Fields is 100% ready to go, you don’t think that’s going to effect his development? Of course it is.

Dalton has more wins the last 10 years then every Bear QB combined.. QBs that suck do not hold down a starting job for 10 plus years in the nfl..

its real simple do you think Nagy is a fraud of a HC/OC? yes or no?

yeah okay so because the Bengals didnt get rid of him obviously he must be good ?

You say you dont think hes good but you are going out of your way defending his mediocrity

Dalton in his last 5 years is 24 -40 -1 he hasnt even been suspected of being average in over 5 calendars years. You want Nagy gone so you'd rather him force Dalton than play his hand picked qb ?

You say Nagy is a fraud but how did you come to this conclusion ? This is the FIRST Draft Nagy has been involved in since hes been here that we invested high value assets on the offensive side of the ball.

He inherited Mitch
We drafted Roquan
then spent two first rd picks on Mack

I have issues with Nagy but I also know that we signed him under the guise of becoming an more offensive oriented team and yet our biggest moves(until Fields) after signing him was pouring top picks into the LBs .

I never said he was good I said he was average, yes I'm defending his mediocrity because he is a mediocre QB

Yes, that sounds like a great plan, play the 10 year vet to see if Nagys Special person system also fails with another QB

You say Nagy is a fraud but how did you come to this conclusion ? This is the FIRST Draft Nagy has been involved in since hes been here that we invested high value assets on the offensive side of the ball.
I dont give a shit if Nagy drafted well.. he is NOT the GM he is the HC/OC and at least as the OC he has been a complete failure. What about the "nagys" system do you think is so great? How many times did we see that they are in hurry up and we are moving the ball down the field and then once we get in the red zone, rather then keep the pressure on he slows the game down, calls a timeout, switches personnel etc.. all to get his "trick play" that he has been working on all week just to fail and have to settle for a fq.., How many times had he completely abandoned the run? His clock management is horrible.. He was asked about Mitches mechanics before and he said that he never works on mechanics..

What about that does not scream out that he is a huge fraud?

I have said this several times but people keep ignoring it.. What if Fields struggles his rookie year and our O is again at the bottom of the league. Now what? MOST rookie QBs struggle, you want to risk having a fraud keep "developing" our potential Franchise QB for another year after that?

If Dalton plays for half the year before Fields takes over then if the O struggled with both of them, you cant blame the problems on a "rookie" when the 10 year vet had the same issues..

Listen we can all hope that Nagy has figured it out, He did start running the Ball more, he did give up play calling, so maybe Nagy as learned and grown.. That would be great if that where true.. Lets play Dalton and find out..

Play whomever gives the best chance to win the most games over a given span of time (3-4 games) without holding back the overall progression of the O or player too much. I don't care when that happens but it's been 1/2 a decade since Dalton has made a system look better. Dalton was never fast but showed decent mobility early in his career. That's no longer the same.

Too many unknowns to tell Nagy what to do before camp has even started. Part of being a good HC or OC is determining when to transition. His evaluation period is over. He's our HC. Let him use his best tools and do what's best for the team.

I 100% agree with this under normal circumstances. If I trusted Nagy I would be arguing for this as well.

I dont expect a top 10 O under Dalton, He isnt good enough for that. But if we take Fields out of the equation for a min and just look at Dalton, Mitch and Foles. Which one of the 3 gives you the best chance to win? For me its simple Dalton is the better QB of the 3. So its not unreasonable to expect the O to improve if you improved the QB. Can our O get out of the bottom rakings with an increase at the QB position? It should right?

We are paying Dalton either way so we might as well get some value out of him..

Of course we should expect better but Andy's purpose is not to evaluate Nagy.

no his purpose is to play QB.. it just happens him playing QB has the advantage of also evaluating Nagy as well

In the last 20 years of the Superbowl winning QBs only 3 of them where day one starters. Although you can add in Eli and Big Ben because Eli stated the end of the first game and Ben started the second game.. So we can call it 5 QBs in the last 20 years where day one(ish) starters. So having Fields sit for 6 or so games is not going to hurt his development at all, BUT having a fraud HC develop him for the next several year sure could..

He has the right attitude and he will be an immense help to Fields. Here are his comments about Fields after yesterday’s OTA. From the Athletic:

“Right now for him, it’s all new, first time getting in an NFL offense,” Dalton said Wednesday. “I’m trying to give him advice on certain things, how I would view certain plays, what I’d do with my eyes on certain things, different things that come with experience. Obviously, I’m going into Year 11. I’ve had a lot of ball. For me, I’m just trying to help him out a much as I can.”

Does Dalton enjoy being a mentor and a sounding board?

“Absolutely,” he said. “It’s just the position I’m in. Everybody should enjoy it. You know, all our experiences in our lives are for us and other people. You’re just trying to pass that along.”

I don’t think you get it though. The Bears need to put 5 HOF offensive lineman on the field before Fields can play.
I get it, no team is going to start 5 HOFers, but it would be nice to know if we even have a guy on the roster that can start at LT....

Right now Jenkins is a rookie and a question mark if that is his best position, who else is considered as a LT, before we cut Leno, there was no depth behind him.

Jenkins, Bars and maybe if they can land Moses (even he is typically a RT) are the options, but none of them are being named the "starter"

That blind side is pretty important and if Leno was still here, I would be pounding the table for them to replace him....

I want to see what the O-line looks like with Dalton, before we throw Fields in there and he starts getting hit a lot and either gets hurt or starts seeing ghosts.

Maybe it will be resolved in Camp and the Pre-season, but just like with QBs if you have 2 or more that could be the starter, you likely don't have any.
