point was.. that the poster was probably correct in his opinion that sox play 2nd fiddle to the local media...
WGN gave the Cubs national coverage and a bigger fan base. The Cubs have done a miserable job of leveraging that popularity to become a successful organization.
ok.. I agree the tribune co. was more into making profits then putting a consistent winning product on the field
Most Cubs fans couldn't care less about baseball. They enjoy the exclusivity of rooting for a perennial underdog. Thus the term "lovable loser." No one loves a loser, except Cubs fans
.
that's a typical response from a sox fan when the truth hurts....
yea were stuck with rooting for bulls, bears, and blackhawks living in Chicago their all perennial underdogs especially them hawks...
I didn't realize the sox 5 playoff appearances made them more of a winner then the cubs 6 appearances in the last 20 years but yea I guess winning that big one 10 yrs ago trumps it..
always find it funny when sox fans want to bring up the loveable loser argument.. your team are just as big as losers as cubs over the years, just no one loves them
I've also noticed that many of the "local" fans are from the outer suburbs, not the city, which explains the hatred towards the "dirty" White Sox.
probably because most fans who grew up in city , moved to suburbs over the years and with all the suburbs in the surrounding Chicago area its not surprising..
if you really think about it, its not a hatred its that most cubs fans just don't care about the sox period.. where sox fans have that "hatred" because they seem to always make a point to show up and have some kind of smart ass comment all thing cubs...
The ugliness exhibited by "local" Cubs fans towards anything to do with the Sox is palpable, and directly related to privilege, race, and perceived class.
yea that because only rich white people who live in high class suburbs are cubs fans :cubspalm:
