I like cottage cheese.

I travel around the world, so being picky with food is not an option. You never know, you try something with a weird smell, appearance, and name, then you're like.. WHOA, this shit is awesome.

What really makes me laugh, is when someone judges all of the sesame/chickpea foods, because they have these foreign names. I got news for them, tahini/humus is fucking awesome.

But whatever, the amount of kids-food that is still consumed as regular adult food for most people is Special person. Grown ass people who still have a bulk diet of pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets, mac'n'cheese. Seriously, YOLO. Try more food. And yeah, just because you like egg rolls and sweet and sour chicken =/= liking Chinese food.

I feel you. I used to be "pickier" I guess. Couldn't stand things like beef stroganov, liver pate, raw oysters and other things my parents made me try. Now I crave that stuff.

If I tried to eat Kraft Mac n Cheese or a Hot Pocket I'd probably barf. I had McDonald's the other day and it doesn't even taste like food at all to me...

Damn, Bear06 is quite the creeper.

My goal for 2013 is to learn how to make a killer mac n cheese, with endless combinations. I love cheese, love pasta and love veggies. Gotta make it. Gotta make a legacy receipe.

word up on both counts.

My wife took Martha Stewart's recipe and tweaked it from there. It's an incredible baked mac recipe but now my wife's is a little more creamy. It's all about a bechamal base sauce and then a combo of cheeses.

Hating? lol! I don't care if you eat cottage cheese, McDonald's or lard everyday. You can eat whatever the **** you want.

I grew up in the 70's - On the typical mid-western diet of meat and potatoes and the "finish everything on your plate" mentality. My parents never forced me to try things. The deal in our house was: You eat what's there or you go to bed hungry. Your choice. My mom never made "alternate" meals for the picky person. If you didn't like what she made, too bad. If you didn't like the peas in her stew... tough shit... you choked them down or you plucked them out.

These days, I think too many parents cave in with their kid's diet. I've seen it so many times with my own friends and family. Listening to the "my kid is a picky eater" while they're reaching into the fridge to grab the $3 box of processed crap. If I was a kid and I had a choice.... duh? Part convenience, part parents getting dumbed down while kids remain manipulative.

Growing up I had the mentality to at the very least try whatever food my parents/grandparents would eat...I figured if they liked it, it there had to be some appeal to it. So I haven't eaten a ton of exotic food but have eaten plenty of uncommon food. The one thing growing up that I couldn't put down though was olives, the smell made me gag and I couldn't even stand the taste of it on any of my foods...being Greek you can imagine how this could be a problem for me. I every year though I would try olives to see if my tastes had changed and up until 2 years ago I never really ate olives...now I eat olives a few times a week.

My point is, everyone's taste change...what you hate as a child or adolescent you may end up liking as an adult. the only thing I can say is, as long as you are not allergic to a food, keep trying it because at somepoint down the road you may like it.

Well said. And the post above yours. Our convenience is killing us with cancer.

A greek that doesn't like olives? Your parents must have suspected a mixup at the hospital. :howdid:

I made up for it in feta consumption...it got to the point that once I started eating olives my parents were concerned

I would rather cook a meal from fresh veggies and meats then to buy the ready made stuff which is loaded with outrageous amounts of sodium.

as for your original post. I have never tried horsemeat but if I had the opportunity to have it I wouldn't pass it up.

I'd like to try horsemeat. That way I can add it to my list of meats I have ate.

Bison
Deer
Duck
Rabbit
Squirrel
Racoon
Iguana
Alligator
Rattlesnake
Frog (legs)

(not listing seafood)

He can't be fooled. It has to look and smell just as he expects. Definitely can't switch meats up on him cause he won't eat any meat. Back to plan A, my only plan really, wait for him to grow out of it.

Quinoa has a lot of protein. Add some pasta sauce on it and call it "pasta".

Good list

I would add some birds, subtract the Iguana and add some slugs and snails.

(not listing insects)
