Well we're going back all the way to the beginning of when he was hired, and a few of the guys who have hit on some of the rumors were saying that, and were also independently corroborating that on their own.

Won't begrudge you if you don't believe them, but it just kind of got out into the ether.

But that's also why I said apparently. Because I myself am taking it with a grain of salt.
Ok - maybe next time include that info in your post because saying “apparently” makes it seem like it’s a fact - but you just don’t necessarily agree to it.

It would be helpful if you were able to piece it all together because I thought Borom showed legit flashes. He looked better than Jenkins but that’s not saying much for a rookie thrown into the fold after back surgery.

Thanks for the update. I figured they would have been aggressive in free agency had they not wanted Jenkins to at least try and start at LT.

I think Borom looking functional at RT instead of inside changed the dynamic.
Jenkins looked better at LT the last couple games than Borom looked at RT. Doesn't mean that's what it will look like next year since both had reasons for delayed development. Jenkins due to lack of core work and reps, he was not ready when he got the call but improved every appearance, and Boroms big swings in body weight. Borom did not look better as the year progressed but he's not done yet either.

From what I've been able to glean, Poles seems to see last year's drafted OL as having potential. Having said that, I do not believe for one second that Poles views either of them as a potential LT. The big question is if Jenkins is a RT or RG. From the actions I see Poles going with, it seems that Jenkins will play the right. I think he sees Borum as either a G or a swing T.

Again, this is from my reading the subtext of what's going on.
Thats how I see it.

Let them battle out at RG/RT.

Move Whitehair to center.

Draft a left side, plug veterans if found to hold it down.

Jenkins if his recovery and development are on track looks a coachable right tackle (imo) Not sure about LB. Don't think either are good enough for a franchise looking to protect the franchise on the left side of the line.

Then again, a functioning O would be a fine thing for the Bears.

That's all your lady needs is a functioning O, Nick!

I would not be surprised to see them starting. And I don't HATE IT. Just hope/pray they play well.

I would be pleasantly surprised if they're not starting. They're on rookie contracts, drafted pretty decently for the Bears. By all rights they should be (but then there's Pace) better than the crap we've been sold at tackle in a very long time. If they can't start I've love to see the GOATS Poles wants.

It was great to see Jenkins protect Fields that ONE time. Truly. That said, he played like a soft ass marshmallow. Boron did great for a 5th round rookie. Should be a great camp to watch.
Jenkins TBD since he only appeared in 6 games starting 2 and in one of those starts only lasted one series. Hell, he missed most of the season with a back injury, so you have to know he was never in football shape after his return.

Still. He played soft. Not scared. S-O-F-T. Mentally and physically. No excuses. It's the NFL. Hope like hell he works out.

I don't see why it's so weird to think Jenkins and Borom could start. We don't know what the rest of free agency and the draft will look like, and whether the Bears will even grab any starting tackles, not to mention however they perform at camp and in preseason.

Jenkins is in at LT/RT, depending on what happens in FA. Borom is likely our swing tackle. POles has been reported in saying this exact thing.

I must have missed the memo on this one.

Is the Jenkins at LT experiment over? I know he didn't play well but it was his first few games.

As it seems like a throwaway year I am surprised they wouldn't give these guys time at OT and see how it develops.
Let's see..... Ryan Poles is an offensive line evaluation specialist and has likely determined that Jenkins belongs back at the position he primarily played all throughout college. And you want to go back to Ryan Pace's evaluation that he can play left tackle?

The second Poles was hired that experiment was over. Probably no one else in the league evaluated Jenkins as a LT. I bet Poles would not have cut Leno either.

If we can add one more solid Guard, I think we make their job a lot easier. Just don’t let and DE get inside. Force them outside, and Fields can either step up into the pocket or take off.

Nice assumption you’re trying to pass off as fact…

What do you think he would have thought about JaMarcus Webb?
