As a stipulation of getting out of the current lease, Chicago should insist the NFL be made to pay to remove the monstrosity that is the current Soldier Field addition and return it to it's former glory.

Why would the NFL care if the Bears move to a nearby suburb ? They won't - and happens a lot.

im guessing they would rather have a brand new flagship stadium in Chicago with a retractable roof that can hold a lot more people than force the bears hand to remain in the lease. Lori sounds desperate...

Isn't it obvious, stop usurping mammalian species names and using them with insulting caricatured mascots and just start fresh.
I introduce to you:

Halas Hall isn't in Chicago either. There's no reason that the stadium needs to be. Arlington Heights is closer to Lake Forest too. If they could get a badass new stadium approaching the level of Jerry World in Dallas, that's a no brainer.

Give us a bigger, better stadium but keep the name Soldier Field. I'm all for it.

The entire Soldier Field reconstruction was a disaster which should give the Bears an out. The design was constricted by keeping the landmark status which limited seating and design. After the fact, that landmark status was removed. It represents unnecessary revenue affecting building stipulations that have limited the profitability and accessibility of the facility. It may be an out but really, the rent is negligible.

Bears lease is only 5.7m a year and that could more than be made up by simply offering naming rights on the new venue. They also gain the stadium itself and a lot of extra seating, concessions and parking revenue. Imagine how much they lose to $8 dogs, $5 soda $10 beers and parking that would now be theirs instead of the city's.

It's a huge financial win for the Bear (depending on building concessions) if they pay every penny of the existing lease.

Guys I'm a little disappointed we haven't gotten any comments about how they wouldn't be able to be called the Chicago Bears anymore

The Bears aren't moving anywhere only the meatballs would even entertain thats nonsense .

This is all apart of a dynamic to get Soldier Field renovated . The city is 100% getting a Casino and the city leaders along with the Bears are gonna use that and possible fear of a move to get approval to build a giant stadium complex with Casino and sports book over in the McCormick area.

I think the union of the grounds crew at Soldier Field would be the the ones to lose the most here. They won't be able to re-sod the field 25x a season.

A beer hasn’t been $10 at Soldier Field for a Bears games in a long time
