The thing here too is, Mayor BeetleJuice is no Daley - she doesn't have the muscle to keep the McCaskeys (or a new owner) in Chicago. All she can do is bark. And the courts would side with the Bears in any lawsuit to remove Chicago from their name, because there is precedent in the league already with a ton of teams.

Bears can't have a super bowl because they don't have enough capacity in the current stadium.
I'd assume a renovation that provided a roof would also provide more seating. But who knows, these people bungled the last one so badly that it got Soldier Field's landmark status revoked.

It’s a great stadium except for the price of concessions. I love going to Soldier Field for Bears games. No complaints on my part.

The vibe is great. But the stadium is small by today's standards. The remodel didn't solve the size problem such as concession lines clogging up the place because they extend into the concourses. Transportation in and out is bad, too. I like the place, don't get me wrong, but for the city the size of Chicago and the size of their fan base and in comparison to to other stadiums, the stadium is not very good.

Amoungst many other negative variables....there will never be a Super Bowl here without a new venue.

This is the reason I think it would suck. I love hanging out downtown before and after a game.

The heights would be lame
assuming the bears have a new owner when they move, you could build your own little bears neighborhood there and build your own bars and restaurants. just another reason the McCaskeys gotta go, they’re broke.

The entrance to I-55 and other connecting interstates is about 500 feet from the stadium. I have never had a problem exiting

Its walking distance from trains that will take you basically anywhere in the metro area, or even Milwaukee or South Bend. People lamenting the transportation woes of Soldier Field are just ignorant.

No I'm not I've been to many, many games. It is worse in Chicago than in many other places.

I can't think of anywhere that could possibly be better. Even the New York teams presumably have to the PATH to get to the big stations in Manhattan. Chicago and New York are the only two cities in the country with public transport networks that aren't pathetic.

What is the argument for the stadium being in Arlington Heights over it's current location? I think we are all in agreement that the stadium needs to be renovated. But why is Arlington Heights a better location?

Arlington Heights isn't a better location. Not living in Chicago, I like that the stadium can be walked to from the touristy hotels (though it is a long walk). I would love to see them keep the stadium in Chicago. Getting a cab or Uber after the game is next to impossible and the busses are over-crowded. Taking the water taxi from Navy Pier is an option in good weather.

They have renovated the stadium once and I just don't know how much more lipstick they can put on that pig.

I think we'd probably all agree Chicago lakefront is a great location, but if Chicago isn't going to budge on a new stadium and Arlington heights will then it is common sense that you go there.

I know that nobody thinks the city should be funding it, but if they are going to obviously that is what the owners want.

How about the Bezos Bears of Amazon Heights?

Just a thought ... to piss off some specific CCS members.

When Dogecoin hits $1 Fartini is going to move the Bears to Turks and Caicos and they will play in an underwater bubble stadium surrounded by beautiful coral reef and real Dolphins, unlike those posers in Miami. Cant wait.

Me and the people we go to the games with love the stadium. The size is perfect, never have a problem into or out of parking, no problems getting in or out of stadium. Our view is phenomenal. We solved the concessions lines quandary by eating right before we leave the tailgate area. Getting a beer is simple and quick, the bathrooms are only crowded between quarters and halftime. If the build a new stadium or not really doesn’t matter to me as much as the location. Arlington Heights would add another 30 miles to my drive each way and another 50 miles each way for some of the other people that go to the game. If it’s just for a game that most fans of the Bears will not get to go to I’m not sure why it’s a big priority for Bear fans to want a bigger stadium. More people, more cars, more traffic, more people into the stadium, more people out of the stadium, more people to the bathrooms. I’ve been to 7 different stadiums and they all have their problems especially if you are there for the first time. A new stadium will give you problems just like the old stadium did. Just leave in in the city and I’ll be happy

they should just build a new stadium in RezkoVille, just on the other side of the Red Line!
