Last year was an even stronger wide receiver class in the draft and Stefon Diggs still fetched a late first. The wide receiver free agent market is certainly not overall stronger than last year either. Robby Anderson and Emmanuel Sanders are no worse than the likes of Corey Davis, Will Fuller V and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Golladay is the one guy teams are going to really compete for in free agency, once he's gone it'll be back to square one.

You keep saying things that aren't so.
Last year wasn't a stronger receiver class than this one.

I think the Bears realize the tag really isn’t all that much for one year. It’s less than AR wants annually. (Supposedly) If they can find another WR in the draft then he gets cut loose next season. With all the WR talent in college the position seems like it’s about to be devalued like RB was.

Literally ever NFL beat writer has talked about how historically strong of a FA / Draft WR market this is this offseason. Just stop. And yes you are dead wrong about Anderson and Sanders. The more you talk, the deeper you dig yourself into that hole.

Odds are with what this offseason will bring, he may have signed a one year deal hoping for cap to bounce back next year. Should be happy to have received the franchise tag this offseason

I seriously wonder how ARob feels about this.

Remember, as a Jag he was looking forward to being in a good spot for free agency then tore his ACL. Ultimately he took a lesser deal with the Bears. He also played through last season knowing he's taking on the same risk, but the next non-franchise contract will probably be his last chance to make NFL money.

He can't be loving the idea of not getting a big signing bonus or having longer term security.

With Pace and Nagy being in do or die mode I think they keep him.
I tend to agree with you there.

Also, with ARob being franchised this might put an end to the Watson/Wilson QB rumors. Not sure adding either of those guys AND ARob is a viable option.

Poor fella. I'm sure it's been explained to him by his agent why this isn't the best season for teams to be handing out big money long term contracts that are cap strapped. He'll be fine.
