hello overpayment

Yeah, I know more productive third-line centers who don't make that much. :troll:

Seriously though, a lot of money for Jones. I'm guessing they're expecting his game to take a leap forward next year. Because right now, he's not a $4 million player.

You can give up on Campbell.

From Twitter:

CSNNE has confirmed Bruins are closing in on multi-year deals w/potential free agents Chris Kelly and Greg Campbell. Band will stay together

Smart move by the Preds. If you're going to lose him, get something for him.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the St. Louis Blues have signed Chris Stewart to a one-year, $3 million deal.

The 24-year-old power forward, who was set to become a restricted free agent, had a disappointing year in 2011-12, in which he posted a mere 15 goals and 30 points in 79 games. Stewart burst onto the scene in St. Louis with 15 goals and 23 points in just 26 contests after being traded from Colorado the season before. The Blues are hoping that he’ll respond with a better effort next campaign.

According to a source, Ryan Suter isn’t interested in becoming a member of the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers were expected to be among many teams trying to sign the potential unrestricted free agent defenseman this July, but they apparently aren’t on his radar. A well-placed source revealed that Suter’s list of teams he would talk contract with are all in the Western Conference should the Predators trade his negotiation rights. It looks like Philadelphia may have to look elsewhere to try to fill the hole left by captain Chris Pronger’s uncertain status due to post-concussion syndrome.

Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune:
The Wild have more than $20 million in salary cap space and will be targeting “NHL talent.” The Wild are desperate for scoring and are expected to offer Zach Parise as much as $8-9 million a year.

Josh Cooper of the Tennessean: The Predators and Paul Gaustad are talking, and according to his agent, Michael Gorman,

“We have spoken with the team. Both parties are interested and looking at options for the future,” Gorman said. “I know that Nashville is interested in keeping Paul and Paul definitely enjoyed his time in Nashville, so it’s our intention to see if we can get something done, and there’s still plenty of time for that.”
