Quite frankly I am more interested in The Mule's books behind this canvas.

Intrigueing. Close to what I like, but there's sometihng about it that doesn't resonate completely with what I like. Not sure what it is though. Maybe it seems, I don't know if this is the right word, childish. Childesh in the sense that it parts of the paintings look like they were done by a kids brain. I think it has a lot to do with 2 dimensionality of it in pictures. Seeing it in person may bring a completely different perspective.

hmmm i love the skull stuff. Not sure if his other work resinates well with me though. Not sure what it is that I don't connect with. But love love love the skull works.

lol i love how me and phrank have simillar resinations. for me it's more the tone and colors I don't connect with. I like harder and deeper tones, less pastel flavor and more oil glossiness, thicker paint and more complex texturing. Personal taste.

I do like some of the abstract expressionist in the work though. The figurative and object work outside the skulls isn't my taste. I am stuffy when it comes to figurative and object paintings esp when it's human figure.

Using Stumble Upon in the Art category at the moment. Though I'd post some cool art findings that I like.

Love this guys stuff. Gustav Klimt.

(warning, it does contain some abstract nudes).

Ahhh Klimt... have you read much about him, or just enjoyed the collection from Stumble Upon? As with plenty of other artists, his is an interesting and sad story (I believe Nazis destroyed/stole/confiscated (?) some of his pieces if memory serves).

I know nothing about him really. Just discoverd one piece on Stumble and searched for some more. I'll be the first to admit my art knowledge is pretty limited.

I like klimt. The Mule used to have a poster of The Kiss on her wall (sorry for disclosing that info MULE!!)

However as beautiful as his work is it hits on a very heavy feminite level which I sort of don't find connection with. Not that this is bad infact it's amazing that Klimt could hit on that level as well and as powerful as he could. Technically Klimt was original and masterfull. As far as theme goes again..a master. My fault for not being able to connect with the infeminite structures of Klimts work. HOWEVER PART 2..his works themed on medicines are unreal!!! Dark..and beautiful.

Im not to versed in the story of Klimt either but I think you are right nana. Seeing he was Austrian also the odds are the Nazis destroyed many a work. I do know that a lot of his medical themed ones were destroyed. I would guess Nazi bastards did it.

Im going to get you guys loving abstract more.

I just want to say I hate most art but this thread is far superior to the book thread.

In all serious, when I have looked at the art in this thread. I've never cared for it. That isn't a slight to any of the artists and I don't mean to offend. However I think it has to do with the way I think, I'm not creative, I'm a systems guy. I was the kid that never colored outside of the lines.

I like this one. How much.

Are you interested in buying or just curious of what I would price something like that at. Obvioulsy people I know get them cheaper.

I am honestly horrible with sales. I am too nice and I have been known to give some away for free. When people show interest I get pretty flattered and end up dropping prices or even swapping them for other goods someone might have. I have traded paintings for knives, theatre tickets and even food gift certificates. Typical poor starving artist shit.

I'll trade you some art for Blackhawks tickets. You have to find a way to get here though.
