RE modern artists, I'd rather watch a bio/doc than a recreation.

Older artists, films will suffice, though...

I still like looking at their art, given my druthers, bestest of all.

But bio docs (more often for TV than for film) are pretty much made on the regular so there's no real shortage IMO. Of course there could ALWAYS be more, more, more! lol

Interesting. . .very interesting. More vanguard wisdom for the ages (or maybe even the sages!). You are sharp as a tack mister.

I was thinking of making a white t-shirt with a Jenny Holzeresque

ART IS NICE

and wearing it to an art museum to see what kind of reactions I'd get.

(My own little performance piece).

I've got a great t-shirt that I wear to bookstores and libraries that states

READING STINKS

Love the looks on the library staff and booksellers face - good fun - when I wear it.

I'll post a photo of it later on and explain the history behind it.

I've walked up to people talking passionately about an artist or painting and stated "Art is nice." Typically, I'll get a response like, "I couldn't live without ART." To which, I'll replay, "Yeah, it's not bad." and they'll say, increduously, "NOT BAD?" To which I'll reply "Yeah, I know what you mean, it's pretty good."

I remember from the O-Boards. But feel free to share with your fellow non-illiterate IHN members. It *is* a great tee design---too bad your friend with the Children's bookstore doesn't sell them to the public---I'd be all over some of that action like white on rice.

Just came across these pretty cool wire sculptures

http://www.fubiz.net...wire-sculpture/

Totally meant to comment on this earlier this afternoon. That link is AWESOME phranchk. I would KILL for one of those wire sculptures---they leave me with deep feelings of longing. Also, thanks to your initial link I followed the additional link inside the piece to the artist's website. Me likey this Gavin Worth! This guy is seriously diversified in his talents. . .fascinating. The wire sculptures are fantastic and so are the paper cuts. Some of the paintings & drawings are bit too "whimsical" and don't work for me but I do happen to LOVE the stencils based on Mexican "Loteria", heh. I've mentioned my hardcore cello love before thusly, I need that Loteria "El Violoncello" stencil pronto! Hell even his web & corporate design work is good. I've had to bookmark him for future reference.

Sighs. I WANT this damnit. . .

Look at you artsy people talking about art. I am so proud of you all.

I have donated 2 works to a silent auction aids charity. One of which is one of my personal favs. It was really hard to let it go even though i know it is going to a great cause. I hope it ends up in good hands and raises a fare dollar for the charity. Somedays that is what art is all about.

I was actually very honored to he asked to donate. I am nervous about what it will fetch. Yah i know thats sort of selfish but i cant help it.

The last year of producing a lot of work has me reevaluating how we access many artists works. I have sworn off downloading music and other artists work. Unless authorized by the artist themselves i will now be going back to the way things were...paying for someones work. Its only right...and it is work. People have this idea in their heads that artists enjoy what they do so much that it doesnt become work for them and it becomes a hobby. So not true. Producing art of anykind can be emotionaly and physicaly exhausting...and expensive!!! Right now after a year of producing so much i am burnt out and broke. Its rewarding to know people like my work but its even more rewarding to get a little something back to cut the costs and put some food on the table. Its a job not a hobby.

My rants done.

My daughters Blackhawks children's character mural is almost done. Should be having it installed in 2 weeks. I can't wait to see the finished product. I've only seen glimpses so far. I'll be posting some pics once it's in place.

Finally! Sure it's gonna be kickass like the White Sox one you had done for Phranchkette #1.
