omg his stuff scares me. such haunting imagery of figures mostly older figures. he makes em look like bark on trees. I wouldn't be able to sleep after seeing his exhibit.

Incredible though isn't he?

My fav artist as far as those who deal a lot with human images and facial expressions etc is Francis Bacon. I should be disturbed by his works more than Albright. Yah Albright...spooks me out.

I am obsessed. Seeing those Albright works in person was fantastic. That Which I Should Have Done - I have no words for seeing this painting in person. Unreal... how long did it take him?

Bacon! I stared at Head Surrounded By Sides of Beef for a good ten minutes. That is eerie and amazing.

Ginnie - Amazing! I love "The City." It almost looks 3D to me with all the layers. Very well done.

TCD - I am abso-fucking-lutely in love with the one you posted on the 16th. That's not to say I don't like the more recent one you posted, but I prefer the proportions on the previous one. The texture and the lines are amazing.. are you planning to come to Chicago any time soon? How long would it take you to whip up something like that? I feel like I need it above my fireplace...

thanks mary.

the real question is..when is Chicago coming to me? Always in the plans just never executed. keep getting side tracked with life events. but it will happen.

Takes me a couple days to whip out the current phase works I am doing. I get a bit manic and don't put down the pallet knives. So it's pretty much 9-10 hours straight. That is if the paints are co-operating.

i think you do need it above your fireplace....send me money!!!

Awww man! I fucking LOVE that painting! I am serious as a heart attack Grammar Hobo. Rest assured, if I could afford it and then afford to bring it over from the northern hinterlands I would have that bad boy hanging in my living room in a hot second! Sighs. . .if only you worked with smaller canvases, lol. My bad luck aside I am sure it makes The Mule feel good having a piece called "The Reader" in the house, heh.

Lovely.

So, I don't know how to ask this appropriately, so I'll just say, how do you choose a name?

Havoc..good question about naming works.

Typically i don't name mine as i prefer the viewer experience the work without a title pushing them into seeing too much outside of what they want too. or feel what they want to feel.

in the case of the last one i did "the reader" there was a distinct mood i was trying to capture. that is a type of mood one gets while reading or even seeing someone read. there is also a faint image in the works of a figure reading (probably not to some but there is for me). thus i felt a title necessary.

my works are mostly mood pieces so its much more abstract expressionist. titles i feel don't have to be there.

I can actually see that - but wouldn't have been looking for it if you hadn't said something...

Interesting. I'm just not sure I could ever look at that piece and attain a name from it like that. I can't really see the faint image, I mean I can use my imagination and make something out that to me looks like that but it wouldn't be the same thing everyone else sees. I can see why you don't normally name things because to me looking at that no real name would make sense because it's too abstract. Now having said that, I don't think it even needs a name, because I feel like that almost takes away from some of the meaning/feeling/emotion whatever you want to call it, from it. And I apologize if these aren't actually abstract paintings as I don't know enough about art to call them what they are. To me that's what they seem to be.

I noticed that and wondered! I thought maybe it was meant to signify The Mule (that feels weird to say)... your special lady (that's much better).

Mule is always working....it.

Or something.

Anyway. I see an orange spot in the middle left on the reader, I can't tell if that lighting/camera flash making it happen, or if you've designed it that way? Looks cool, but I can't tell if you made it that way or if it's just the picture.

BOOM!

And just like that I am the proud owner of a drawing by one Ms. Marcy Lyzun, a.k.a. Mrs. BlackhawkPaul. Also, she is a delight to work with although I must admit I had my reservations about having to send the money to that litttle shifty husband of hers' account---he better not have gypped her damn it!

But seriously, enough of making fun of Paul. My drawing, it's so lovely. . .

Now I just need to decide which framing store I will take it to probably next month---got other pieces custom framed in May and it took a nice hit on the ole pocketbook, LOL.

It's all that public education.

Damn skippy. We public school-educated halfwits might not know jack about high-fallutin', fancy-schmancy "Art" and we may be culture hillbillies in general but that doesn't mean you can just "get over" on someone with 13 yrs. of hardcore CPS schoolin' mister!
