Who would like being in Chicago? Chicago was great when I was a kid but it's turned into a shit hole with nothing but good food going for it now. Kind of like New Orleans North.

But it has such a low crime rate with limited shootings :). I grew up NW side, Fullerton and Pulaski, through the 60s and 70s and graduated college in the early 80s and got out of what is now a cesspool. Chicago is a fun place to visit though. I sure miss the old Chicago Stadium. Hawks games in the 2nd balcony!!! Sorry, I digressed.

To be fair... I have lived in SC for 13 years and while I consider this state a dumpster fire, I have remained because of the job and money.

Everyone complains.

Kind of what I was saying when I said: "I bet this could be said of a lot of young NFL players."

No argument here, I'm not a fan either.

Everyone should mentally prepare themselves for this happening as it's a possibility.

"The Chicago Bears find themselves in a somewhat unique situation and it might be time to start worrying about it. They have a Pro Bowl wide receiver, seemingly in the prime of his career, refusing to attend voluntary workouts at Halas Hall. Keyword here is “voluntary,” Alshon Jeffery’s attendance is not required at this time but it will be very soon."

If Alshon didn't want to be here we probably wouldn't be negotiating with him.

More like Vice Versa.

Its entirely possible no deal gets done, and there is an understanding that they will delay announcing Alshon will be playing for the tag this year, with a strong likelihood he is just free to walk next year. Bears need protection in case White doesn't pan out, and if White doesn't, there may be more in it for Alshon in the form of a larger contract for himself from the Bears, and a renewed willingness to try to make it work in the short term for the Bears.

I've lived in Phoenix, Madison, Austin, Chicago, and now Sacramento. And Chicago was possibly the least enjoyable of them all.

LOL. I wrote that post just as a little troll job to have some fun.... and all I've gotten is agreement.

Maybe it IS a shit hole now! I haven't lived there in 20 years but I still enjoy my visit every year or two. (partly for the obligatory visit to Lou's and Paradise Pup)

Definitely not. I wouldn't be a fan of moving Jeffery but acknowledge it's a possibility.

A lot of things are possible, Jay Cutler could be traded tomorrow. The Bears could decide to trade Pernell McPhee, becuase you know he is 'injury prone'. If there is legitimate talk and rumors regarding a trade then we can talk about it. But there is no creditable information that a trade is coming down. Who ever wrote this article is just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. Waste of time.

AJ has been my favorite player by far. He plays at a high level and i dont buy that he doesnt like it here. If anything Chicago is his home in a sense that the fans already love him. He is the only playmaker that has earned his money when he plays. I cant see him leaving. Just sign him. Voluntary is simply that - lots of guys get paid on their contrscr when they attend these workouts he doesnr.

it still remains he's the best receiver the team's drafted like... ever.

if he goes to the Jets in exchange for a case of gatorade like all the other offensive players this team has dumped, I'll be very pissed.

that said, I hope Kevin White's as good as everyone says he is. we need 2 great receivers again.

"Don't worry, there's no way he'll let Forte walk."

"All this talk about trading Bennet is crap. He's under contract."

"Why in the world would Pace ever trade one of the best receivers in the NFL. Marshall is going no where."

"Slausen is arguably the best OL on the team. Biggs is an idiot for suggesting we're trying to trade him."

"Alshon rejecting the Bears offers doesn't mean anything. Neither does him skipping work-outs and Cutlers camp."

So he got rid of the team's best RB , TE, and most productive WR. So why not get rid of the most promising and productive YOUNG WR?

Is getting rid of the team's best players a blue print for success?

Sac isn't a shithole at all. The weather is perfect. There are tons of great places to eat, especially downtown and Midtown. It's pretty affordable as far as Cali goes. There's an NBA team here with a brand new state-of-the-art stadium. Lake Tahoe and SF are a short drive away. There's an art and music scene, nice museums, and some really good colleges and universities. I moved here recently for work and love it.

Give it time.

He's trying to rebuild the team from the ground up with a solid foundation that will be designed to complete annually al la the Steelers, Green Bay and most recently the Seahawks.

I for one am tired of the NFC East style of GM'ing and think the way Pace is implementing and sticking to his philosophy is a breath of fresh air. That doesn't mean he won't make mistakes along the way and it might take until our next QB before the Bears get to the SB. Recent history has proven yet again that elite defense trumps elite offense every time.
It's a hell of a lot easier to build an top 5 Defense that will win you games and keep you close in others. Build to the strength of your coaching staff and trust that they will maintain a balanced enough offense that can put up 18 - 21 a game.

I get the article's point but I'm not sure trading him for something (draft pick) next year is the answer. I think if they were going to do it, I would hope they would have gotten something out of him in this year's draft. White, though I suspect he'll be fine health-wise will still be in his first playing year. Sure, he got a taste of the preparation and grind of a season but he's still somewhat of a rookie. So, Alshon's experience will be crucial in White's development.

And I'm not sure its in AJ's best interest to show up fat and out of shape. I think he has to play and play well to get paid in Chicago or anywhere else. Missing as many games as he did last year isn't going to bode well for whatever contract he might negotiate in 2017.
