If Alshon doesn't sign a new contract before the season he is gone! With the release of Marshall, Bennet, Forte, and Slausson, Pace has hit Alshon upside the head with the reality of the business side of football. With best friend and mentor Marshall gone and seemingly no other friends on the team, he just doesn't seem to want to play in Chicago anymore. He'll play the good soldier this year advertising for his next big FA contract and then Pace, not willing to pay the second franchise tag at a 20% increase, will let the best wide reciever drafted by the Bears in my memory walk for nothing!

Fucking idiots... Alshon IS a #1 receiver, and he IS a Chicago Bear this year. He's literally the ONLY Offense the Bears have at this point.

I get the article's point but I'm not sure trading him for something (draft pick) next year is the answer. I think if they were going to do it, I would hope they would have gotten something out of him in this year's draft. White, though I suspect he'll be fine health-wise will still be in his first playing year. Sure, he got a taste of the preparation and grind of a season but he's still somewhat of a rookie. So, Alshon's experience will be crucial in White's development.

And I'm not sure its in AJ's best interest to show up fat and out of shape. I think he has to play and play well to get paid in Chicago or anywhere else. Missing as many games as he did last year isn't going to bode well for whatever contract he might negotiate in 2017.

Did you think this through? What team in their right mind is going to take Alshon under a 2nd franchise tag @ 20% higher than this season's tag AND give you any draft pick worth a shit? The time for trading Alshon for any compensation in terms of draft pick worth a **** has come and gone. Alshon will either be signed to an extension or he will be gone. There is no miracle middle ground here.

Sac isn't a shithole at all. The weather is perfect. There are tons of great places to eat, especially downtown and Midtown. It's pretty affordable as far as Cali goes. There's an NBA team here with a brand new state-of-the-art stadium. Lake Tahoe and SF are a short drive away. There's an art and music scene, nice museums, and some really good colleges and universities. I moved here recently for work and love it.

So better weather and close to SF and Tahoe which I love. But fewer teams, stadiums, art, music, museums, colleges and universities. Tons of places to eat and tons fewer than Chicago.

I'm not ripping Sacramento, I like the place. But the things you listed as positives are more plentiful Chicago, except the weather, SF, and Tahoe, and those are three pretty big deals. Some people don't like Chicago because they don't enjoy the ethnic diversity, for some the weather is the deal breaker. I get it.

Back on topic, AJ is homesick, this has nothing to do with food or art. He would rather live in a shit hole he is familiar with, than paradise. I'm not calling Chicago paradise, or SC a shit hole, he just isn't happy here.

"Don't worry, there's no way he'll let Forte walk."

"All this talk about trading Bennet is crap. He's under contract."

"Why in the world would Pace ever trade one of the best receivers in the NFL. Marshall is going no where."

"Slausen is arguably the best OL on the team. Biggs is an idiot for suggesting we're trying to trade him."

"Alshon rejecting the Bears offers doesn't mean anything. Neither does him skipping work-outs and Cutlers camp."
Fair enough, but if he really doesn't want to sign what can you do?

"Ermmm... No. No, let's not do that.

" OK. "

That's how I would hope the exploring would go.

Hey mongo, for some reason I can't quote you due to moderation. The question I had was all well and good maybe they are thinking of letting him go but if Jeffrey doesn't want to sign what can you do?

Not shit can the offense to a point where talented players want to bail?

Ok, I see the point but what do you do, allow his agent ride you or stand firm? At this point I'm happy enough to see players leave if they think they've done enough playing on a losing team

For the record, Forte publicly said he wanted to stay and retire a Bear...

As far as Alshon goes, if he is actually refusing to sign a competitive offer, then it appears this GM/Coaching staff may have already burned the bridge.

Sad to see forte go, definitely had 2 years left. Guy treats his body as a temple...not something I'm familiar with.

Jeffrey is an excellent player and I want him to play and succeed but there's a new philosophy in town. While I understand where you're coming from it's not as if the team has been saturated in success in recent years. Something new might be something better

I've been to all of them. It's a nice city to visit, not reside in. If you're comparing Chicago to whatever shithole IL town or burb most posters live in, then yes, it's far superior. Illinois is an awful state. Chicago is the only city anyone should consider living in if you can't escape IL.

I spent 12 years in Wicker Park and had a great time. So much going on, great buses/trains, used to bike everywhere, or walk, so much going on, the lake, etc. It depends on where you live. NOW, if you're comparing it to Cali? That's tough. I love LA, and SoCal, NoCal, too.

If something new is on the table, dump the players who weren't producing at a high level. Right?

And to be clear, this was the #2 offense in the NFL just 2 years ago.

Success was not hampered by a bad offense. It was because the GM/coaching staff at that time decided they were going to shit-can the D. Now? Exact opposite. And exactly what everyone on here trashed Locie/Angelo for doing.

And as I have said half a dozen times, you don't have to shit can one side of the ball for the other. When you have talent and coaching on both sides of the ball, you win.

Translation .... you ready? ..... come on bro ..... really? .... are you ready ...... Because fans like you don't have any clue of how to build a winning team in the NFL!

Very true. First year of trestman ball I couldn't believe I was watching the bears...second year of trestman ball I couldn't believe I was watching the bears
At least last year they began to resemble the team I support.
We need balance but the best offensive teams rely on qb and scheme not high paid feature players.
Don't get me wrong I know where you're coming from
