I could completely get behind that plan. But given the lack of elite talent at the top, probably not a draft where a lot of trades take place.
If they’re do think Simmons is that guy at LT, I could see them just taking him at 9.
I hope they take Carter over him if he drops that far, which he probably won’t.
It depends there are few QBs in the top half of round 1. The 2024 draft had a higher than normal number of QBs.
Sure, this draft is lacking QB talent in contrast to 2024, but is still a better representation of the norm.
If one of the top QBs is still floating around on the board when the Bears pick there will be a chance to move back.
I don't know where Simmons is in his rehab but if he's able to participate in the combine and or pro day than I'd be more than content with taking him at #9.
I'm with your camp that wants an OT or DE at 9 then a HB like Kaleb Johnson with one of our second rounders.
Kaleb Johnson is my favorite HB in this class and his value outside of round 1 would be a good pickup for the Bears. Johnson cab flat.out truck defenders and outrun them. Plus he can steadily catch the ball out of the backfield if needed.
