Still scratching my head how someone could want a running back before addressing this offensive line. Like, what holes are the running back going to run through? Oh, you want him to make his own holes and slam into people? So then you want us to spend a high pick on a guy who likely will only last 5 years tops at peak performance because our offensive line is shit and he has to make his own holes...

Seriously, do people even fucking think?

Do you think? I presume those that want a RB presume Bears can address the OL in FA. If you sign a legit new LT, G and C then the need for an OL in the 1st is reduced.

LT - Alaric Jackson and Jones
LG - Rookie 2nd rounder
C - Dalman, Shelton
RG - Will Hernandez, Bates, Pryor
RT - Wright and Kiran

I see nothing wrong with the above as Bears kept 10 OL. So there is no requirement to draft an OL in the first.

Of course I think DL is a better option than RB but Bears have FA and the whole draft to address OL.

This is Bijan Robinson all over again on CCS

At least Bijan made a bit of sense because of his pass catching. Jeanty isnt billed as a guy that can run WR like routes at RB so even less reason to draft him top 10.

It takes 2 to trade, and this may not be a good draft for that.

Mekhi Becton has done a fantastic job at RG, and Philly may not be able to afford him. A C like Jake Majors can be had in the 3rd.

A guy like Ersery or Milum could slide in nicely at LG, and they may be had in the 2nd.

99% of the time, you overpay in free agency for a lesser talent. Teams do not let great offensive linemen go. You end up paying "great" prices for just "above average" linemen. Its a great way to end up in cap hell.

I think its old timers who just have a willy for the Walter Payton days, where he made his own holes, knocked people over etc.

People don't realize Walter was 1 of 1, and even he didn't win anything until they beefed up the offensive line.

I MAY be okay with a running back in the 3rd, but any higher than that is crazy considering how bad the lines are.

If they go DE in the top 10, then double down with guards(or a guard/center) in the 2nd im fine with rb there. Achane and bucky irving prove you dont need to draft a rb high.
According to your logic, Payton, Sanders, Sayers and Brkley would have been wasted high round picks, GTFOH, I do however agree that the lines are the priorities right now, as are S and CB

No kidding you overpay in FA. Do you want the Bears to overpay for Trey Smith if he hits FA? I’d be ok with it. Mekhi Becton? Won’t be as expensive as Smith, but it would be an overpay that I’d be fine with to shore up RG.

Your point that Jeanty would be an overpay in the 1st-someone can make the same argument that a G in the top 10 is also overpaying.

CCS: “ our offensive line is the worst in the history of the NFL. Our GM did not fix it. He should be tarred and feathered and fired.”

Also CCS: “ let’s use our top pick on a running back.“
Your extrapolating some folks’ opinions to the whole of ccs is why we can’t have nice things

My point is you DON'T draft a RB in the first round unless you are absolutely SET everywhere else. That is a LUXURY. You can get by on much less at the position, whereas the same CANNOT be said about either line in football.

ADDRESS THE LINES FIRST.

Watched the Penn St. - Boise St. game....the Boisey RB, .draft him in the 1st Rd? Are you out of your effin mind? He better pray he's drafted by a team with an Oline. if not, he's going to have a short career. Not impressed with a back who got stuffed at the LOS more than not. What teams did he pad these stats against? However, if da Bears can get AZ. St.'s RB Skataboo (sp) in the 2nd Rd I'd go for that. I don't see him lasting until the 3rd Rd. But who knows.

If you're looking for the closest thing to Walter Payton in this draft, that would be Cam Skattebo.

I want to use all three Top-50 picks on the offensive line and re-sign Jenkins and Coleman Shelton to groom their eventual replacements. Start one rookie on the offensive line and get by with the rest until the other two young players are ready to play.

No it's not ideal as I would prefer to replace 4 starters on the offensive line but obviously that's not feasible. So draft three potential starters and let them develop. The odds that some of the starters get hurt and the young guys get some valuable reps is high. So there will be veteran starters and rookies who add depth that are starter quality.

They've invested enough in the defensive line that they need to add vets in free agency and let guys like Dexter sink or swim.

I understand that on paper there might be better defensive line depth in this draft but they can't ignore the offensive line any longer and need to focus their intentions on building and developing the offensive line with high level draft talent.

Other than a lack of elite break away speed, please tell me what you don't like about Cam Skattebo.
I am not down on him so as not liking, he is a definite football player, just have seen so many posts about he has to be the guy. I would not be against picking him, just like a few other RBs more.

Like totally dude!

I'd much rather the Bears reach on another Darnell Wright in the first. Screw going BPA baby! Man, I'm glad you're here to show everyone who knows it all!

I'm really not. Like I said - RB is a luxury in round 1. That's what you do when you are a team that is loaded for the Superbowl and want to grab another weapon. That's NOT what you do when both of your lines are dogshit.

I have been on Skattebo's band wagon all season, but he is probably no better than a late second rounder, at best. His running style will not hold up with a lot of carries in the pros, but he can be a gadget back and special teamer for sure.
