I can't speak on "almost everyone" From what I remember he was a top 50 pick. I remember wanting a half dozen players over him. I liked Skoronski, Jones(seems like he sucks), Jalen Carter, Van Ness, and I loved Bijan and joked many times about drafting him. Scouts had Mitch Trubisky high up though so what the heck do they know?

Drafting a RB on the surface with the 1st is def. a choice. But I wouldn't be mad if it were Jeanty. I'd also take the CB or Graham or any of those Edges. I won't cry if Jeanty isn't the pick. I'm only saying I can understand it if they think he could be GENERATIONAL!!!!! Swift is not the answer as the bell cow and a committee isn't going to cut it.

Carimi got injured his second game of his career and never recovered. I have zero clue about his college injury history.

So far, the OL from that class have not been really special for any of the guys drafted as near as I can tell. I think Wright is a solid OT, but not special. He's still young and can get better. He needs to stay healthy and hopefully a new OL coach can help him even more.

Hindsight being 20/20, if Poles was never going to draft Carter, he probably should have explored trading down even further to get more draft resources.

You just stated you want the bears to use their first three picks on linemen. Assuming one is a tackle that means the other two are interior linemen. If they’re about as useful as a fullback, why do you want to use high picks on them?

Pick a lane.

Do you want to go position by position on value?

QB>G
RB>G
WR>G
TE>G

Do you want me to keep going?

And yes the Bears should draft a left tackle a center and a guard. So yes the best LT the best center and the best guard with their Top-50 picks, probably in that order if at all possible. Maybe even two tackles with one that might not be a great tackle but will make a great guard.

Of course I'm not touting him as a first round pick. To be a first round pick you have to be elite. Saquon AP level stuff.

I could see Skattebo having a Marshawn Lynch style of career. Will he be as good? I have no idea but I wouldn't count him out.
I would love to see Cam get a chance in the NFL, he is a truly uunusual character, unique like Lynch. I am an ASU alum and watching the resurrection of a once proud program has been wonderful. Skattebo is a real leader, not with his mouth but with his actions. Spending 1/2 a quarter throwing up in the Peach Bowl only to come back in the game and lead your team's comeback is a measure of the man.

I think my druthers in regards to drafting linemen is to draft a bunch of them, because even the best talent evaluators can not be sure how any of them will do in the pros. Depending on the draft pool of talent, I would not necessarily be afraid to trade back and get more bodies in the building. I know that sounds like the old let's throw shit against the wall and see what sticks style of talent evaluation. But, there is a certain amount of that on even the best teams. I think there are very good linemen in rounds 2 thru 4 every year. After the fourth round, the odds of hitting paydirt drop substantially. We really need to find a real center somewhere in the process. If you look at really good offenses, they usually have really good centers. It is not jast about blocking, it is about running the offensive line, calling out assignments on the fly, and earning the respect of the line.
For this post I'm giving you an ....Amen Brother! You're preaching the trut.....

The C in this draft are awful.....but sure, use a top 40 pick on one because we need one.

Agree about the lack of top-end Cs in the draft. Jake Majors in the 3rd would be nice though.

They should just focus on upgrading both guard spots and I don't care if they take a college tackle high and move them to g....happens all the time.

Maybe Stromberg is their future c if healthy and they can sign a vet FA to replace shelton (seems to be a few that may be fa that are better than him anyway)

I really like Stromberg also. Loved him coming out in his draft. Injuries have slowed down his development. He has a chance to work out.

Go back and look at Saquons Penn State numbers. I think you'll see the 3 RBs we are talking about in here have put up better or equivalent numbers.

We’re not even disagreeing you’re just contradicting yourself.

Everybody knows quarterback is more valuable than guard.

And we know that we have our quarterback and need guards. So you’re in agreement that they should draft guards.

But you’re in a vortex because you had to dig at me for saying Kyle Long wasn’t a wasted pick simply because he was a guard.

Guard is not the most valuable position on a football team, but you sure as shit need guards. Teams need a punter and place kicker too. It doesn’t mean they’re more valuable than a quarterback or a wide receiver.

Jesus!!

As awful as your take about the Bears being good this year?

So who have you been reading that says the centers in this draft are awful? Whose opinion has shaped yours?

I call him scootybooty.

Daniel seems to like him so the bears should avoid a slow white RB like the plague.

I would be more than happy with Jake Majors
I previously wrote "We really need to find a real center somewhere in the process", it could involve a trade, draft picks for a current player, there are a lot of options. Last year was not a great year for centers either, the reality is there will still be good centers in this draft, the trick is figuring out which college guards could be an effective center, if the college centers don;t look promising. Again, I don't have a problem trading back into the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rounds to stock the lines. I think first round linemen have to be as close to a slam dunk as possible, so many end up failing. But, I actually think it is easier to identify top defensive linemen than offensive linemen. I really believe trading back a bit and acquiring a lot of players is a good strategy. Just spitballing, it turns out I am not an NFL gm.

If the draft were today solely based on what we've seen from these players so far and nothing else then Jake Majors would be a fine use of the Bears current third round pick.

I'm sure a lot of that will change with the Senior Bowl week/combine/Pro Days but for right now, just based on his play for the past month on prime time vs legit competition, I do think he'll develope into a CENTER that's just inside or outside of the top 10 CENTERS in the NFL.

Majors looks pretty steady to me & I'd be more than happy to get that from any player at any position with a third round pick.

I never said the bears would be good

They had a chance to win 9-10 if everything went right

Likely a 7-9 win team......

And they played to a 6-7 win type team but their coaching/decisions derailed the season and turned that into a 4-5 win season

There isn't one top end center in this draft....and none are close to Frazier who went in r2 last year....which is where top end centers get drafted......

I wouldn't waste pick 9/37/40 ish on a center in this draft and probably not pick 73ish

Btw.....asucks

bumping this.
Yeah, we all know its OL/DL in the draft but...
If they can get a couple legit starting OL in FA, would BJ consider this guy at 10?
Lions took Gibbs at 12 in 2023 and he has accounted for 31 TD's in two years.
just sayin.

Gibbs is a hell of a RB but would the Lions be better if they took Carter instead of Gibbs and followed up with Achane in the 3rd?

Or maybe Gonzalez and Achane…
