What he does tonight is irrelevant. His resume is there.
No it is relevant. This isn’t Oregon still gelling in the OOC. This is a real big ten defensive line, and they only had Abdul Carter for a small portion of the game.

This Boise state stuff is nonsense and always has been. They’ll beat Oregon state and then get to hide for 3 games before they play another MWC team who could tread water for a p2 game; Fresno state etc.

Where as, if you’re Illinois and you beat Kansas, and your left and right tackle are nicked up, and your DT depth is kinda hurting on a temporary basis due to short term injuries, you aren’t playing New Mexico and Utah state. You’re on the road at Wisconsin and then hosting Penn state.

If you really want to see what Jeanty would have looked like if he played for Michigan state this year, you’d have Boise state play 7 days from now at Wisconsin and then host Maryland the following week

My god…

Look, when the bears pick and everyone is saying a 3 tech from Alabama or a LT from Georgia (just examples) make the most sense at pick 8, that’s probably because they make a lot more sense than the bears trying to shock the world with a guy that makes everyone say “why?”

Most bears fans under 40 (and many above) don’t understand that jim finks built the 85 bears by hitting on pick after pick after pick. High picks, low picks.

Here are the first rounders from 82-85

82 Jim McMahon QB BYU
83 Jim Covert OT Pitt
84 Wilber Marshall LB Florida
85 William Perry DT Clemson

Where do you see finks getting cute? Where do you see the “you know what would be really neat” pick?

He's got enough games under his belt to know what he is. It's ridiculous to apply the argument that he didn't play tough enough competition, but not also apply that to the fact that Boise St doesn't have top notch talent like a Penn St. They literally have one guy ranked in the top 400 prospects this season. You want to guess who it is? It's talking out of both sides of your mouth. The small school argument is somewhat valid, but it only goes so far. It's not like he was tearing it up at a division II school.

lol Abdul carter was our most of the game. That was the only talent they had on defense that was so far above Boise state that you’d have any sympathy.

When he plays at Boise you get to see what it’s like when Oregon plays him and he plays well, then he gets to stay fresh against 2 MWC scrubs. You don’t get to see what he’s like the next two weeks when Wisconsin and Minnesota pop him all day.

Again, just lazy arguments. Penn St has 3 DL in the top 200 prospects. There is nowhere in the world where you can make the argument that Boise St is on par with Penn St. Jeanty had way more to gain than he had to lose from this game, and the scouts certainly know that. At worst, his draft stock dropped slightly. The competition he went against is already built into his draft profile.

Poles did last year.....

Shelton
Pryor
Curhan
Bates
(although Poles wasted a pick vs signing him 24 hours later when he was released)

OL FA is usually an exercise in dumpster diving
Best O-line depth Poles has ever had right there, folks! Even better than his first year as GM when he went out and bulked up the then worst O-line in football with rookies Braxton Jones (5th), Zachary Thomas (6th), Doug Kramer (6th) who doubles as the greatest FB in history, and Ja'Tyre Carter (7th).

Let King Poles cook, baby!!!

Jeanty's NFL viability is based on his traits, not his stats.

He was swarmed all night last night, Penn State had far better players overall than Boise. I'd be much more worried about his ball security than his lack of production.

Here's the thing

David Montgomery is 14-2 and the Bears are 4-12

Derrick Henry is 11-5 and the Titans are 3-13

Josh Jacobs is 11-5 and the Raiders are 4-12

Saquon Barkley is 13-3 and the Giants are 3-13

It's as if when you let your star RB go, you get worse...

How were the Giants and Titans before the RBs left the team last year? Both were drafting in top 10. Bullshit. Giants and Titans are shitty teams like the Bears.

Raiders weren’t that good last years as well. All RBs went to better teams.

He’s got value as a fringe first rounder. He’s a nice addition to a complete team. Not for the bears.

Let me ask you, do you think Boise had any business as a 3 seed

No they didn’t. But they bearly lost to Oregon that fooled fans and observers. This playoff is new and needs to be developed more. But Boise State deserved to be in playoffs.

People were crying about Alabama not being in. Thank God the Wolverines shut their mouth.

Titans made playoffs with Henry so **** off

Raiders made playoffs with Jacobs. Wow you're really killing it with your takes here

Giants made playoffs with Barkley so you gotta be the dumbest motherfuker alive!

Congrats man! I thought several others were the dumbest on here but it's you!

Jeanty strikes me as they kind of pick you can make when your team has a solid foundation (ie, OL and DL) and is ready to compete for playoffs and Superbowls. He can be a guy that really propels you to the top - as long as you have that solid foundation already in place.

The Bears do not currently have that solid foundation in the trenches. They need to invest in both their OL and DL first and foremost to enable their entire offense and defense to have a chance to function to at least an above average level.

You can make an average RB look good and a good RB look great if you have a great OL. And then that also helps your QB. IMO, that has to be the focus this offseason.

even ryan poles isnt dumb enough to draft a rb in the top 10.
And with the 9th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select...."envelope crumbling" Ashton Jeanty RB, Boise St........"Well there is our first WOW moment of the Draft Mel!"........"Well Matt, I'm not surprised, I had Jeanty as the 3rd best prospect in the draft, with Poles re-signing Matt Pryor, I guess he felt he could grab offensive lineman later in this draft!"

No question the Bears need a good RB. There should be a number available in this draft. Obviously, a decent running game will be a huge asset to the QB
