Yep. We're a team going through a big change and it's going to take a couple of years to get this team where the new staff wants it to be. This change doesn't involve J.Cutler, M.Bennett, M.Forte, J.Allen, S.McLellin, T.Jennings and didn't involve L.Briggs or Peanut, so just sit back and watch us change for the better and in hopefully 2 years we'll be a team that will be ready to compete for the playoffs and championships.

Why can't it include Bennett?

Forte is ancient by running back standards. Will be a UFA next year and 31. That means move on.

Marshall is 31 and coming off injuries.

Allen is done and making too much money.

Cutler is 32 and carries an albatross contract.

Peanut is most likely done as an NFL Player.

Briggs IS done as an NFL player.

T Jennings will be 32 and is a middle of the road CB.

Bennett, on the other hand, is one of the better TEs in the league and is 28 and has no serious injuries to speak of. There is no reason he can't or shouldn't be part of whatever this team is going forward.

Intetesting. I wonder if NO got their salary cap under control?

NO doesnt have enough money to sign their draft class at this point. If bennett is traded to NO it will be for another player which is interesting since trading bennett will save us close to 4 mill in space which would then give us right around 10 mill and the only player NO could save cap space with is jordan who is due nearly 7 mill on the last year of his deal and bennett would be a 3.8 mill cap hit for NO giving them just enough room to sign their draft class.

Bennett and a 3rd rounder for Jordan?

depends on how interested they are in moving jordan and or acquiring bennett...the third was for more incentive for the saints to get the deal done actually a 4th would prob do it

im saying if the bears are helping them out with their cap all buddy buddy like.. a straight up trade should be suffice.. saying that jordan isnt along term plan for N.O that is

Pace really has to have a hell of a draft to instill some confidence as far as im concerned. I havent been impressed with a single move hes made, though hes made a few i flat out hate, this would be another.

And I love how a number of fans immediately try selling themselves on the idea of any and every possible move. Yeah, sure the team would be better off without Bennett.

You haven't liked a single move? Sounds like a guy who's angry he was hired in the first place thus he hates every move he makes.

I don't buy that 'by the time the Bears are good again' horseshit.

This isn't the Cubs and Theo's 4 year grace period.

This is the NFL. EVERY single season there are 5 playoff teams that weren't in the playoffs the prior year. Every season there is a worst to first team. No other sport offers a one year turnaround like the NFL does.

Build a team to win today. The Bears traded away one of the best WR in the NFL - creating a hole where there was none. Now they are considering trading away a very good young TE and creating a hole where there wasn't one.

And besides, there are zero guarantees that these moves that Pace is making are going to magically make the Bears good. The reality is, that for the last 30 years, the Bears have been a mediocre to suck team. Just because there is new blood ensures nothing. There is an equal chance that the Bears will suck in a few years when people are saying it is sort of some done deal that they 'will be good again'.

There's no guarantee that the moves won't work either. Also, how we know this isn't agent driven? Biggs seems to think it is and said so this morning. People are acting like Pace came out and said they were looking to get rid of Bennett for anything.

I'm thinking around a 3rd rd pick. Bennett was not happy with his contract last season (when he was joking or not so joking with Emery).

if he wasn't happy with it, he shouldn't have signed it. huh?

If I am going to complete this trade, I am looking for a late second round to early third round pick in return.

Regardless of who is driving it, I still don't like the idea.

A trade can't happen unless Pace makes a trade.

I'd bet 25% of all guys on an NFL roster want to be traded.

I'm referring to him as being traded. They do have him on the trade block so that might be a clue right?

@ArthurArkush: #Bears' Fox on ESPN Bennett report: I've talked to him, ... but he's part of our plans. ... Yeah (expected on roster come Saturday).

But yeah by all means let's continue saying pace sucks and none if the moves he's made have been good including this one (yes I know you didn't say that).

What else can he say? I hope he's with us next year but if they do trade him I hope they don't just give him away like they did with BMarsh.

As you note, I never said that.

That being said, I'm ok trading a lot of guys. Have a VERY good TE (which are hard to find) under contract who is only 28 is not a good trade to make.

I just don't buy into this 'well, guy X won't be around - WHEN THE BEARS ARE GOOD AGAIN'.

That's not the way the NFL works. This isn't MLB and Pace isn't Theo Epstein who magically got a 4 year get outta jail free pass.

The fact that they got anything for Marshall is a miracle. Dude was about to be released. And I'm a Marshall fan.

With regards to that comment, there are myriad ways Fox could have answered without giving a definite "yes he is in our plans" like he did.

really weak class of TE's this year. Most are short (6'5 and under) and none are as good as Bennett. We will have to probably draft two TE and stack them to equal what we lost in Bennett.

That kid from ND is gonna be very good.
