"Dan Durkin joined The Score’s columnist community after finishing runner-up in the 2011 Pepsi Max Score Search."
Thanks guys for stating the obvious yet again. $35-million in cap space to sign two starting defensive ends a starting DT a starting safety a starting corner a MIKE .
Now add in two backup DTs two backup corners a backup safety a backup linebacker a punter a kick return specialist a backup QB.
Oh and offense starting center backup TE.
17 players off the top of my head and $35 million with which to get the job that's an average of about $2-million per player.

Yeah, salary cap issues are BF51's journalistic blind spot. Well, that and every other subject.BF51 apparently thinks that salary cap hit = salary paid to player.
Golly, what a sticky wicket ole Phil has got us into. At least it's better than the Saints. They will have to be looking for some 2 way players since they are $9M over the cap with only 47 players signed for next year. If there were only some way that they could manipulate those numbers!!!
@TyYoungfelt: While Bears raw cap# stands at 12.8M, heard x times that # could grow as high as 35M with extensions/cuts- also told to expect 2 splash FA's

Since everyone is saying this thread is stupid and doesn't make sense can someone please give an accurate analysis of our current cap situation laid out in full...
it would be much appreciated...
Thanks

The Bears aren't stupid. If they were concerned about cap space, they would have franchised Cutler for 16MIl instead of having his cap # at 22.5 Mil. Obviously they either have a plan with the limited space or the most likely, Jay is going to be restructured to a cap hit under both 22.5 and 16 Mil.
Plus, the Bears signed their entire 2013 FA class using like 13M of cap space for 2013.
