OK. Was it him or a bad GM? I just know recently his defense has been as good as anyone.
Same GM that Zimmer worked under. Theyre bad now but had a really good stretch for a handful of years.

But yeah hid D right now is great but as HC it def wasnt. I think some Bears fans who like him are just banking on the hope of getting it right a second time.

Hes also been under McDermott who is a good defensive coach right? To be fair I think Frazier could be a fine hc and you could do worse. But I think they need to hit a home run with this hire and I don't see him as that.

So can someone actually articulate why this would be such a terrible hire? Especially if he comes with Ken Dorsey who from what I’m seeing is a hot name on the offensive side.

Is it the age? Desire for an offensive head coach? Prior experience in Minn?

Not saying I’m for or against the hire. I’m still in fact finding mode here.
I don't think it would be a terrible hire myself, just not what I'd prefer, and I like Frasier as a person and ex player.

The issue with defensive guys as HC is the endless search for an OC, I mean look at Lovie and the clown show he put on. It does seem like when a a decent to good OC makes it, they only last a few years before they are moving on to be a HC somewhere. There are some exceptions to this, New England being the big one. It definitely seems like this is the case in Chicago, as soon as any coordinator here has any success at all he is bolting, even if he turns out to be no good where he goes.

I'd look at an OC on a team who is doing good offensively, but has a defensive guy as the HC. At least you would know that the offense they run is his offense.

The problem with most teams is they want to copy cat success. To me success comes from within, which basically mean you have to know, as the person doing the hiring, who has that something special to lead your team, which is why the McCaskey's always fail, they have no understanding of what a special football person looks like, which then makes Frasier the safe hire for them.

I haven’t heard this suggested before, but that seems awesome
If Lamar can get Roman fired there could be a chance. I don't think fangio survives as he is an awful hc. The biggest issue would be getting Harbaugh to leave Michigan. It's probably wishful thinking but I'll hold out hope until the bears botch the hc process

For real question. What extra incentives come with hiring a black coach? I thought the team he comes from gets like a 1st or 2nd round pick and doesn't the team that hires get something too?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
Starting to hear some rumors that this report was put out by Frazier's people and not the Bears.

At this point, I don't think there's anything to the Frasier rumors. If you follow the links of the sources thus far...it directs you to an ESPN Insider article that's a subscription.

Isn't it against league rules to be talking to candidates right now?

Are there sources saying they're talking to him? I've only seen generic, lazy connecting of the dots that always happens with former Bears who are coaches. Im not buying it either.

Yep. Just click-bait at this point.

Cmon man. You know darn well that conversations go on behind the scenes all the time. Sure, George isn’t having a sit down with anyone now but his people are talking to agents and other associates gauging interest.
