Not sure about Bass but Jones was one of the players Fangio mentioned as guys from the previous roster that fit I think he could be one of the starting ILBs paired with Foster.

They are kind of loaded. They clearly value guys like Bass and Jones over Greene. I'm not sure if it's his conditioning, general attitude, or lack of ability. Probably a combination. Williams is a good pickup if he has the desire. He could be a really good NT.

I don't think Christian Jones has much a chance of not making the final roster barring a season ending injury during training camp.

I hope Washington might get some PT. I know most have given up on him, but I find it hard to believe that he can't at least be serviceable with his physical mix.

Yeah I just wasn't sure how they felt about him and he was an undrafted free agent. I know he seemed to make plays when given playing time.

Thanks, I didn't know he said that. I hope he at least gets the chance to compete.

Yeah I knew Greene and Bostic were in trouble when heard Fox say that.

They're monsters man. The linemen seriously are damn goons. My good friends dad was All- American at NIU back in the 80s and played for the Redskins before his shoulder broke. Got in a fistfight w howie long at the combine and to this day still hates the guy lol .

BUt, pushing 50... He's still a damn monster. Intimidating as ****, and seeing his NIU picture back then;
Good lawd scary lookin dude.

And to think linemen were a lot smaller back then. Jim Covert played in the low 270s. Heck that's only a couple of Carl's Junior burgers and a shake more than Martellus Bennett.

Covert was very mobile. I have high hopes for Grasu. It is interesting how overall size continues to increase - Jimbo was a different era.

Greene seemed to have mastered the Lance Briggs 2014 body in year 2 of his career, and the fact that BearDen saw him spend 6 hrs pounding beers last week sorta tell you he was well on his way to out fatting the end of Briggs career.

Walterfootball ranked 11th NT for this year's Draft:

Terry Williams, NT, East Carolina
Height: 6-1. Weight: 353.
Projected 40 Time: 5.21.
Projected Round (2015): 6-FA.
4/25/15: Williams had 29 tackles with 7.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass broken up and two forced fumbles in 2014. He is an under-the-radar prospect, but he looks like bowling ball rolling through the offensive line. Williams did not participate in the Combine.

Williams is very disruptive, and Virginia Tech couldn't block him in the Pirates' Week 3 upset. He recorded five tackles, but was a much bigger presence as he constantly blew up plays in the backfield. Williams needs to improve his conditioning, but he has a burst with size that overwhelms offensive linemen. The senior looks like a great fit as a 3-4 nose tackle.

Williams missed eight games in 2013 because of a suspension for violating team rules. The year before, he recorded 46 tackles with one sack and 5.5 tackles for a loss.

I really like how he gets off his blocker to make the tackle on the RB.

Might as well admit it now. I predicted Khaseem Greene to be the best LB next to Manti Teo in that draft. Not only that, but I thought Bostic was a sure bust. While Bostic hasn't cemented himself yet, he has exceeded my expectations. On the other hand, I was completely wrong with Greene. Both UDFA Christian Jones and Dede Lattimore quickly jumped ahead of him on the depth chart. Hopefully those two will be able to contribute for years.. Anyways...I am here to eat crow. *Chew* * Chew* *Chew*

It's not a big deal to be wrong. All anyone on here does is guess on how these college kids will do at the next level. Nobody knows for certain even though some like to act like they do. All we have to go on is what we see on tv during games and videos we watch on the Internet. At least you can eat crow like a man and not make excuses why you were wrong about a player.

So does the fact, that two of the guys got 3 year deals, mean they are a lock to make the team?

I wasn't going to bring that up, but there aren't a lot of guys who can take the offseason off like Briggs even when young.

I think it shows that the bears think those players have a higher chance of developing and contributing and so they got longer deals but the guaranteed money is minimal or does not have any guaranteed money. They will more than likely be on the practice squad and need a year of development.

Same player. Dude is an animal if he got his act under control. Could make that Goldman pick look stupid if he plays the way he can.
Easy there, even if Williams turned out to be a player it has nothing to do with Goldman.
How does it not have anything to do with Goldman? They play the same position...

Sagbear is correct, it has nothing to do with making the Goldman pick look stupid, if he turned out to be a player.

Williams didn't even get a combine invite and has less than a 1/100 shot to become a better player than Goldman, if that.

Is it your suggestion that Pace was thinking..."You know, I'm really thinking about taking Eddie Goldman in the third, but my only hesitation is that drug dealer/malcontent kid Terry Williams from ECU somehow making our team from a minicamp tryout, then becoming an animal which would make me look stupid. Because they play the same position?"

The Headlines might read "Pace looks like an idiot because rookie camp tryout Terry Williams beat the odds, reformed himself, and now plays like an animal, rendering 3rd round pick Eddie Goldman completely useless and therefore a stupid pick. Because they play the same position"

Or simply.. "Undrafted Drug Dealer Plays Well...Pace is Stupid"

Williams has a chance. He's a roll of the dice. Goldman should play a long time. He can hold the point. It's all conjecture, but I don't see Williams as any threat toward Goldman. I think I'd trust Goldman more than Williams, but these guys could end up on the field together. It's pretty clear that Fangio wants to eliminate middle rushing. I think Ratliff, Ferguson and Goldman will require double teams if the defense doesn't want the pocket collapsed. Williams is a flyer and probably a PS candidate.

There are 26 camp scrubs on the roster with 3 year deals. All UNDFA's, all reserve/future players, and all camp tryout guys that make it, get 3 year deals. It's been this way on the bears from Jim Finks moving forward, and I'm pretty sure every team does it this way.

Only 4 of these players of of the 26 have any sort of bonus or guarantee, and all of those $5000 or less.

So no, a 3 year deal means absolutely nothing in regards to the possibility of making the team. It means the player is on a standard undrafted/camp scrub rookie contract

If Williams turns out to be a solid player that makes Pace looks smarter not dumber. Hitting on a few UDFA will only help this team. Goldman, Williams and Ego on obvious running downs, good luck moving those big bodies.

Has anyone thought about the compensatory picks the Bears could land with some of these schmucks? Pace is a genius.
