I am going to do one better Ares. I can't get a phone number or email, but I do know the address of BB HQ. It is in a suburb of Vancouver called Burnaby.

If I do not hear anything by the end of today, I am going to take the bundle directly to corporate HQ in person. Not sure if I will create a public scene, but it may catch a few of these lazy office ******* off guard.

More venting.

Still no resolution. I have had more communication with Acer in the last 30 hours than I have gotten from Best Buy in over 2 weeks.

A warning to those in Canada. Best Buy uses a third party phone centre in Ontario, run by Transcom for their customer service. They are only messengers, who constantly apologize and then relay your concerns to BB corporate headquarters. You cannot speak with an actual employee of BB and get answers directly. There is no number, no email, nothing. The only people you can talk to are these 19 year old phone centre twits who have no power to make any sort of decision.

Because this was a web order, no store manager will deal with this. You have no other choice but to call or email Transcom employees, who are really just a buffer between you and BB.

I have begun chargeback procedures with my bank, just because I want to be difficult now.

/vent

Don't be surprised if suddenly someone comes out of the woodworks trying to resolve your issues. There is nothing like hitting a business right in their wallets to get wheels turning.

Its really complete shit that they hang Canadian's out to dry like that customer support-wise. That is an atrocious way of doing business.

Yup, it's shit. You go into a store and it is overstaffed with people whose only function seems to be to hassle you with warranty sign ups, or credit card sign ups. They'll be all over you, even as you are leaving the store. After purchase though, good luck trying to get anybody's attention.

Did you go to a b&m store and take it up with a manager?

Best Buy "HQ" finally contacted me last Friday, after 17 days. The only reason they did contact me was because Acer got on their asses. The contact was by email.

They offered to replace the tower with an Asus tower with half the ram, half the storage, same processor, and a GTX 760 with a display port.

I asked if I will have a new 14 day window for return if I do this, as we have been unable to even turn anything on yet. No answer. No answer this morning. I have now just requested that they arrange for a return at the local store for full credit because obviously we are now beyond the 14 day window for returns and exchanges.

I just want to be done with this company, and they are still dragging their asses. My bank talked me out of back charging, but suggested if it is not resolved by today to call back and they will proceed.

I've spent enough time on this now, and just want to be done with this crap company.

I'm playing catch-up on this. It seems very strange to me. I bought an Acer monitor at Best Buy to replace my old ViewSonic when it bit the dust. Mine has an HDMI hookup and works perfectly with my Mac mini.

For all its' flaws.... Best Buy does provide a large contingent of our population a place to go buy electronics without needing to really know wtf is going on.

I mean if I am going to buy a TV let's say.... I will research online.... look at deals.... warranties.... etc.... and eventually find something and get it.

TVs are hard for some people, they just wanna walk into a Best Buy and say "I NEED TV NAO" and offer up how much money they have to spend, have a person point to what they can afford, and then take their money and load it into their mini-van.

Now expand that to all electronics.... phones, TVs, PCs, video game consoles, MP3 players.... there are alot of technologically challenged people who need to go to a store like Best Buy and be handed the product they are going to buy. You ever go to a Best Buy and see old people wandering around? That is because no one has told them what to buy yet lol.

When I was looking for a new TV, they kept trying to sell me 4K Ultra HDs. I was like, that's pointless, nothing is being broadcast at that resolution, so I'm paying a premium for technology that doesn't really exist. He was like, well let me know if you find something you like lulz.

Then I went into HHGregg, and told the guy I was looking for a Sharp Aquos. He starts showing me 1 million inch TVs. I'm like, dude, I was looking for something around 40 inches. He tells me Sharp doesn't make Aquos in 40 inch. I'm like, I found one on Amazon LOL. He's just staring at me like sonofabitch. I wasn't trying to be a dick, but I didn't ask for no help, and they kept trying to sell me ridiculous sized TVs out of my price range.

The Magnolia store-within-a-store at Best Buy is all about the upsells. I think they work on commission.

I used to get excited to go there and look at the video games.... at one time where I was living it was the only close option to buy computer stuff in a pinch.... I once had no choice but to go buy a hard drive marked up like 40%.... either that or wait 5 days for one to ship to me.... for a 14 year old kid das like a death sentence.

I guess....

I had an ElekTek near me to one direction, an EggHead to the other. Both were more expensive than Best Buy for computers, but ElekTek was actually cheaper for supplies. Babbages were in nearly every mall.

But we also had Service Merchandise which beat out Best Buy on price and releases for a while, before they closed down. The reason people went to Best Buy, was for CDs that cost $6-13 on release day, when they were $12-20 everywhere else. But they were cheaper, because a huge chunk of the CDs were made cheaper(more rot, easier to scratch) and had crap paper inserts or used those shitty jewel cases that cracked easily...otherwise what became the norm for physical collections in the 90s.

Okay, going to swap the Acer tower for an Asus ROG 20 gaming machine. The one with 8 gigs ram. I7 4790, 1 TB hybrid drive and a gtx 760. Funky looking machine with an external power supply. Originally $1400, I'm getting it at a straight trade in, basically $400 off. Plus, I got so choked, I also got a $100 e-gift card which I can put toward this purchase.

So, my nephew will end up with a $950 monitor for $750, and a $1400 tower for $900, if this all works as it is supposed to. The wheels are in motion, and he better have the damn thing turned on within 2 days.

Best Buy still sucks, so enough with this crap.

Congrats. Crossing fingers for you man.

I only have two really bad customer service stories, and neither are as bad as this one. Dealing with EVGA on 6 straight replacement cards(including *free* upgraded models) that had infinite loop issues. and dealing with Progressive Insurance. LOL

Thanks Crys.

I'm usually pretty understanding with these things, but the level of incompetence and the complete lack of communication, not only with me but between members of their customer service, was truly astonishing.

I'm not too sure about this machine though. I don't like the form factor so much, and although an external power supply does make for a sleeker case, it concerns me upgrade wise. Oh well, if he can turn the thing on and enjoy that monitor, then I won't be too concerned.
