Kyle Baun was extended for 2 years on a one way contract at $625k aav.

Good news to have investment into the athlete. You know he has the body to dominate, give him every chance to develop the skill. Low risk here, all thumbs up.

Too bad.
I keep forgetting how much Hossa sucks and needed the reminder.

It's also too bad that guy that kept the board up to date on how over paid Toews is and how much he sucks too was banned.

On a side note... I believe with my poor math Kane is on pace for 45 goals? I wonder what the odds of him really ratcheting it up and hitting 50 are. 12 more goals in what 15 games? Hat trick here or there and we're in.

Hockey Reference has him at 0.57 goals per game which comes out to 46.74 in an 82-game stretch. So definitely not far off from a 50-goal pace. Given the way scoring in the NHL has dropped in the last few years, a 50-goal season is pretty damn impressive.

That's the main reason I bring it up... while really the different between 46-47 and 50 shouldn't be that big impressiveness wise... there is just something about that nice even 50 that I think really resonates with folks and would finally sink in for them just how awesome he's been this season.

Kane hitting 40 goals would be the first since Amonte right?

Yeah, it would be pretty cool for him to hit 50 goals. Hasn't happened since Roenick in 92-93. Also his 17-point lead for the Art Ross Trophy is just absurd.

Correct and I think he topped out at 44 which Kane could tie or top. I don't think he's hitting 50 though.

Amonte hit 40 goals three different times while a Blackhawk.
The latter two seasons he did it were impressive due to the lack of goals at the end of the 90s entering the 00s, and it being that era of the Hawks.
It was basically one line and everyone else.

I really like those lines (except for Shaw at center).

The moose is loose. Oh no.

BTW Keith was not at practice, apparently it's mom's trip time too so you know what that means?

Luckily Kruger should bump him by the time playoffs come around and that should also bump Mashinter. Pretty surprised to see Mashinter in over Rasmussen/Panik but that's how it is for the time being I suppose. Desjardins has had a great year but I would also like to see him on the 4th line eventually and one of Shaw/Weise moved up.
