This guy hasn't shown any more than Bowman did. I said from day one that staying in house was probably not the best way to go. @KBIB is right....this should not be that difficult. Rookie GM probably thinking that other GM's would be falling over themselves to deal because the Hawks have a lot of maneuverability. But, these guys know what they're doing and played him by backing him into a corner. Hopefully he can draft better than he moves people....at this point, I wouldn't count on it.
I absolutely said I hated it at the announcement and was told he wasn't a direct Bowman guy or some shit like that. I wanted a complete full fresh break from all of the previous front office but was told that it was a clean enough break that he wasn't a Bowman guy. Yet here we are.

Who the hell said that? To my knowledge, Bowman was the only GM he worked with....how could he not be a Bowman guy?

I would have to look back for the thread. I remember saying specifically that this is not enough they need clean break, but it was said somewhere that he didn't directly work for Bowman and was respected in the league already or some shit.

I should say I don't like that trade at all for Kane I'm a simple basis of the entire point is the stockpile 2023 picks not 2024. I'm sure it'll be a halfway decent pic and player but it also doesn't fit with the rebuild timeline of putting everything all in for next year draft.

I've resigned myself to alot of 2023 seconds and any 2024 meat we get is welcome.

Everything is good. If Bedard we can be great again this decade.

I suppose being guilty by association isn't exactly fair and he could still save things by drafting well. But if he fucks up these next two drafts, he could put this franchise into a decade long slumber. A more experienced guy should be running the show.

To be fair, he was a Maciver guy along with a Blowman protege.

The problem is, Maciver isn’t doing the drafting.
I just want more assets for this draft in order to have the flexibility to upgrade picks we get. If we don't get one maybe we can package to move up which then the 23 had more value.
I personally think we have to get those first rounders now. I don’t think first rounders will be currency after the dead line. Nobody is going to want to trade them this year.

If you have pick 28 and you can get a guy who will play in your top 9 in the future while having a rookie contract, I don’t think playoff teams will part with them. Nor capped out teams. Hell, we’re looking at 44 players currently who have a strong shot at being not only nhl players, but solid ones, throw in the projects and that number hits 55. That’s two rounds.

KD needs to get this shit done. This is what he wanted and he damn well better deliver cuz I’m not going thru five years of this bullshit when we’ve already gone thru Blowman retools with nothing to show for it outside of high first round busts and Seth friggin Jones who Kane humiliated on the ice a couple games ago.

Kelly’s horrific drafting for years that never went questioned and Blowman being Blowman put this franchise in the drizzling shits category. I’m sick of these smartest guys in the room morons and just take the best player available and stockpile talent.

If Kane's no trade clause is one team long, it's hard to imagine us getting much value. Davidson, Kane, and agent should be the only people that know that.

I can't blame Davidson for the Toronto return because it's clear they needed a center not a RW which they have two great ones. Kane doesn't do much for Toronto except stall the second team power play.

I think the Rangers will end up the joke here trying to drag a hobbled Tarasenko/Kane duo into a playoff run with a bunch of soft kids.

Kane is clearly an obsessive tightly wound individual. Probably why he's great, God bless.

I'll hold out we are sending a larger package that includes pulling Laff back in addition to the #9 in 2018. Two top ten former picks would certainly satiate me and they can deal McCabe/Domi/Lafferty to grease the wheels on a third teams help. Maybe keep Laifrenaire and ditch the other kid to third team.

Giroux gave the Flyers ONLY Florida to talk with at last year's TDL,same age, same full NMC ,PURE rental and the same agent as Kane...........Phily still got a 1st and a very good, young forward in Tippett.
What we're seeing is the difference between a L-NTC/M-NTC,where a player submits a list of teams he will or won't go to depending on the clause and the impact of a full NMC. Other players besides Girioux with full NMC's have also been successfully traded.

My concern is the emphasis on moving Kane will distract from moving the many other vets with trade value that need to go. Last year's TDL saw not a single move and players other teams coveted were lost for nothing. Six days and counting till the music stops this time around and competitive teams are already filling their needs through trades.

Lafferty's an effective, cheap bottom six forward and he's signed cheaply again next year, the competitive teams that need botton-six help need it now for the push and any em of can afford the player.......GET ER DONE!

Domi's the same with a bit of $$$ retained with the ability to help a team's top-six as well............we're trading everything that ain't 'nailed down' or we're not. No low hanging fruit this summer either.

Holy shit, the deals done and Pat has to say ok.

If it’s the 2024 first and the 2018 1st round pick or Lafriennaire I am happy.

Less than that I’ll blame Kane and our being imbeciles for not managing Toews better for this deadline flop.

Still can get a 2024 first or 2023 second for Lafferty, and good lesser shit for McCabe, Murphy, Domi

The Bowman left us a couple dimes but that 2022 class has shined.

It’s going to be hard to **** up 2023 with what we have and this draft class. We are slotted into 5 high value easy picks with less bad answers than usual.

That’s already a great draft class if you even hit 60%
