There was an article in The Hockey News in February that talked about Panarin and his KHL team mate Viktor Tikhonov coming to the NHL next season. There was a comment in the article speculating that they might want to play for the same team. Tikhonov is the property of Arizona until he turns UFA on July 1st. If the speculative comment is true, maybe Tikhonov signs with the Hawks when free agency starts this summer. But, of course for that to happen hr would have to sign for cheap and who knows if he would be willing to do that because unlike Panarin who is only 23 and bound by an ELC contract, Tikhonov is 26 and as a UFA can sign with the highest bidder if he choses to do so. But, maybe he wants to join Panarin with the Hawks - who knows?

If Tikhonov signs with the Hawks, they have one of their open center positions taken care of. Tikhonov is a good defensive center and would be ideal at 3C, although he could play 2C if TT isn't ready to play center next season. A 3rd line of Panarin-Tikhonov-TT would be pretty exciting.

USA/RUS are playing on NBCSN right now. Panarin is playing for RUS and just picked up an assist against USA. Also of interest, Jack Eichel is playing for USA.

The Panarin assist was sweet as he helped knock it loose from behind the net and carried it into the crease where he passed to a d-man who had an open net to shoot at. He made a couple other good plays that didn't result in goals but what excited me was his hustle and backchecking. Small sample but if that's what we can expect from him I doubt Q will have any problems with playing/trusting him.

Definitely good to hear. Best way to join the Quenneville Circle of Trust.

The 26-year-old has played 51 games for the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder this season, leading the team in defenseman scoring with 27 points (7g-20a). Prior to his stint with Stockton, Seabrook played the 2012-13 season in Italy with Val Pusteria HC, picking up 18 points (8g-10a) in 18 games.

Why has nobody mentioned we picked up Keith Seabrook in March? lol....he will have to do next year for salary reasons. Seems to have a scoring d-man flair like his brother, just smaller. Dynasty...(also....is this some lame attempt to bring down Brent's contract price just a little? "Hey man, we are taking good care of your little bro, stay here and you might play with him some)

We did when he was signed. He's not an NHL quality player and never will be after many years in his level. He's no spring young prospect, he's 26 already. He's a 3rd pairing AHL player at his general playing range.

There is some other defenseman out of Europe, a Swede of course, who is a 23 year old that was playing over there named Gustaffason that was signed, but still he's just another mix to the several guys potentially on the bubble for next year. He's a LD which is nice because somehow the Hawks wound up with 4 NHL Close RD prospects in TVR-Johns-Paliota-Pokka.

The Hawks are reportedly in the mix for some kid coming out of college named Mike Reilly that was born in Chicago, but he's a Columbus prospect.

quite the scoring flair like his brother, lighting it up in the ECHL and Italian leagues.

Why has nobody been talking about David Toews?!? He has 11 goals and 19 assists in the ECHL this year too!

True story...

When we got David Toews the first time, some bandwagon Special person, who worked at the GameStop I went to pick up a game and reserve NHL whatever, was like "Oh so you like hockey? You hear we got David Toews, Jonathan's brother? Dude idk, look what the Sedins can do. DT and JT are gonna be great together".

I think I popped his bubble when I told him DT wasn't going to amount to more than an AHL press box skater.

There is no comparison even of that manner; It's far more than every Daniel and Henrik there are 20 ... There never has been something as remarkable as them even with other brother pairings having success.... Seriously, 70% of Daniel's goals have Henrik assisting him on them.

I was for sure joking about SEABS Jr. without knowing anything else about the matter. I'm loving the cup race, but my mind is racing about the cap decisions. There are so many possibilities but I don't like them. Its tough to figure the cap into it because of the fine line of are we going to lose 2 salaries? 3? can we get away with 1? Is Saad a free agent cuz that could go badly. Its a cross between the best team we could field....and reality.

Saad-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Tikhonov-Kane
Tuevo-McNeil-Sharp
Kruger-Shaw-Bickell

Keith-Oduya
Seabs-Hammer
Gustaffson-Johns

Crawford, Darling

But that is a pipe dream. My question is how far is that roster over the cap projecting Saad, Oduya, Seabs, Tekhenov contracts? That tells us who gets cleared out. In all likelihood we cannot sign anybody would be my guess. Maybe its easier to look at a full exodus and guess how much cap would be left to sign?
The full exodus team would be

Panarin-Toews-Hossa
Hartman-Tuevo-Kane
Baun-McNeil-Shaw
Nordstrom-Kruger-Danault

Keith-Hammer
Johns-Gustafson
Tvr-?

Darling, Raanta..

I think looking at what we have with removing all cap shows our weakness. We need Seabrook, Saad, and Crawford, plus Tikhonov should be a priority over Sharp or even Saad/Bickell.

It all depends on the decision with Bigfoot. If Tikhonov can be an NHL 2C and is more ready for faceoffs than Tuevo then we need him because Richards/Vermette are surely goner. Richards getting 2-3 years at a fair price would not hurt my feelings. It feels like even with McNeil/Danault we could be better off grooming them and having Richards/Tikhonov.

We just can't solve 2C/3C man. I'm not sure Tuevo will ever be that player, he seems like a wing and is starting to excel. Protect his body like we do Kaners. Alot will be asked of him next year to more than likely fill the Sharp void, its nice to see a prospect like Panarin show up out of nowhere and lessen that burden on him.

The rest of the GM's, especially in Canada, must collectively groan when they see the Blackhawks pull Baun/Panarin and jump to the front of the Tikhonov sweepstakes based on Panarin's connection. We must be annoying as **** and if you don't have money its almost insurmountable to think you could compete with us in the next 5 years.

The blackhawks are over the cap next year WITHOUT signing Kruger or Saad so far as it goes because of Kane and Toews new contracts.

The 2nd list is an oversell though.

They just really need to move around 8-10 Mil for the likely fill of Saad/Kruger deals and that's with letting Oduya walk. If they traded just Bickell-Sharp/Crawford/Seabs they'll fit the spot for the season, maybe tight but many guys are there to fill the roles. Selling Steeger would help open up more room and some thought Shaw may go too but that's up to how it pans out.

I'd love to see a line with David Toews, Marcel Hossa and Fredo Nesterenko* up front, with Keith Seabrook with Jake Chelios back. Ernesto Pang* can play goal.

*Their existence has not officially been confirmed or denied.

I'm a bit saddened, no clue why but Marcel Hossa isn't on team Slovakia currently in the tourney going on... at least they have Kopecky still. He is a FA again, maybe he comes back? I think his NHL days may be over actually.

We can also find and get back Matt Keith and lie to people and say he's Duncan's older cousin or something.

Maybe they can sign John Madden, the old Oakland Raiders coach.
Every time he checks a guy *BOOM*.

Can't do it. He's afraid to fly, so he'll have to take a Greyhound bus...which takes too long. And sadly, he's very susceptible to dog lag. :parrot:
