In 2010 the Bears were 4th in PPG at 17.9. While they were outside of the top 5 in yards per game at 9th with 314 they were top 5 in PPG and turnovers.

that's just good

Which all falls in line as a hallmark of the Smith defense.
To anyone arguing the bears were not among the most ferocious defenses in the league in 2010, get your noses out of the box scores and look at the back breaking turnovers that came with great regularity.
The bears d was flat out amazing in 2010... especially dealing with the handicap of an offense that was 21st in points per game(with help from d and special teams, otherwise it would be like yardage ranking) and 30th in yards per game.

I give credit where credit is due- and in 2010, it was 95% defense.

He HAS won:

7 in 2009
10 in 2010 plus 1 playoff game
7 in 10 games in 2011
10 in 15 games in 2012
5 in 10 games in 2013

Yeah its a known fact that he can't win 6 games when he already did it 4 separate times and would have been a 5th if not for injury.

You are saying those numbers like you are proud of them. As a Bears fan you should be ashamed of those records.

well i mean that's obviously the most likely outcome. i want to get rid of jay, but i am 100% aware that the asinine contract emery gave him makes that very difficult to do. that and the fact that he's a mediocre quarterback.

I'm curious to see how Cutler does this year. I wouldn't be shocked at 3500, 25 tds and 10-15 ints. Keep the ints down, and it could be a good year.

That's been pretty much Lovie's deal...I think the only years where we had to rely on the offense during Cutler's tenure was 09, 2013 & 2014. and we all know how that wound up. Lovie was pretty much only a QB away from being an excellent coach.

ND is horrible.

I'd be fairly shocked if he got 25/10 TDs/Ints as I don't believe he's ever gone even 2:1 in that ratio. I just checked, and in full seasons (11 games or more) he has never gotten even close to that ratio.

25:15 is a completely attainable goal, but how many fumbles is he turning over in addition to his picks?

The reality that people are actually arguing Clausen versus Cutler is a testimony to how much the Bears actually need a good prospect quarterback. COme-on people.....both of those guys SUCK!

I have NEVER as a fan had any confidence that Jay Cutler would lead the Bears on a winning drive or a big time important drive as long as he has been on the Bears. NEVER. There is just something about this guy that does not give you confidence. That is it with me. And I know that I am not alone in this perception. I don't think his own teammates believe in him either. He just doesn't have "IT":(

I'm not in love with the guy either, but you're being a bit ridiculous to suggest that one should never have confidence about Cutler leading a game winning drive. He's had 14 of them in the six seasons since he became a Bear (average of about 2-3 per year).

I thought the writing was on the wall a year prior when he was vastly outplayed by a QB who was coaching HS football the year before.

dumb Emery signed him to that huge extension...i thought Emery sealed his fate when that happened
