I know the Rangers just got to the WS.. but didn't they just have an ownership switch over lately?
Yes but the new owners are willing to spend, hence why they threw a ton of money at Cliff Lee to try and keep him. Now they have a lot of money they can spend and they'll likely outbid the Cubs on Webb.

At this point.. Let them have Webb..

I think I'd trust Mike Maddux and Nolan Ryan to fix the guy..

right because the last 8 games makes him fixed. please.

Right because this season was so much different from all his other seasons. Had he not been sent to the bullpen, he would have been the same Z we've had the last 8 years or so.

How many seasons has Z had an ERA above 4? 0.

He's always been right around that 7.5 K/9 mark. He's always walked about 4/9. he's never given up 1 HR/9, in fact his HR/9 has been down the last couple years, which is good to see. His FIP was right in the same area it's always been. His LD% was pretty high for him last year and he still put up those numbers. Interesting... as he gets older he gives up more hits but fewer HRs.

So what was so different about last year? Hell, Z put up some of the best numbers of his career with the highest BABIP he's ever had.

But you can't use ERA as a stat.

Back on topic,

What was so different about Z last year? Hmm?

we are on topic, your not a mod, dont tell me when to get back on topic. you are the king of getting threads closed.

anyway, dont use ERA if you are going to go against ERA in other arguements. hence why you are using it because his FIP is higher than his ERA in alot of the years.

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot that since you were a mod, you were perfect and know everything. Please forgive me for my ignorance.

ERA is okay, when used with other stats of value(not W-L). Not by itself, which you love to do. Z has outperformed his FIP in every year, expect 09. The fact that he does it every year, means that we can reasonably assume that he will do it again.
