Well I also asked why anyone has any faith in George McCaskey and Ted Phillips to finally do something right in their tenures running the Bears. Especially when that one thing is building a two billion dollar stadium on the eve of the worst economic downtown the country has faced in the last fifteen years, all with the (notoriously bold and crooked) city government of seventh richest city in the world actively working against them.

Didn't really get addressed at all.
Those are different subjects than the "concern" you put forth in the post I replied to. Sort of a non sequitur imo.

There is a project underway for that

I think you’re trolling at this point
Are you going to try and convince me the Chicago Spire project was "unaffected" (your word, not mine) by the economic downturn?

and maybe Chicago proper can open up it's first Chicago store in Soldier Field?
it would make a great food court. in fact, it already is, if you like $12 hot dogs and $9 tallboys of Miller Lite!

they have to do something about the piss troughs though.

I think we should just rename it Bono stadium since U2 used to ruin the field every season before the first game complaining about loyalists or something.

This is what Montucky said about the White Sox hiring Tony LaRussa to manage the team again, "Great hire. Zig while everyone else zags. He'll get on fine with the young players and the lineups/bullpen issues we had with Ricky will disappear".

What happened in 2008 was an economic collapse not a down turn
Just take the L. Its OK.

I was wrong about Tony LaRussa.
You were wrong that big, high-profile construction projects are recession-proof.

OP is 118 days late.

How about we get the Cardinals back at Soldier Field and then Arizona can fight over Jaguars and Washington who should just be cancelled for a while.

Why settle for the Jaguars when we the big fish?

A slightly more recent article about the Jags moving to Chicago rumours. Khan having ties to the area would be one factor. And a lot of fans would be more loyal than Jax residents, according to the piece.

I went to a jaguars-colts game in 2018 at the jaguars stadium, and even got to enjoy a box seat. It was very easy to get to from ‘down town’, but it felt like being at a red roof inn. Then again, so did downtown jacksonville

This was a worthless article that goes off on the premise that "Khan went to U of I, so of course he'll move the team here."

The floor for being Chicago's second team is basically the ceiling for being the first team in Nashville, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Cincinnati, hell even Indianapolis. There will be a clamor to get into Soldier Field if the Bears vacate it, especially with the city actively pimping the site to anyone in the league willing to listen.

If the Bears move its a matter of when, not if, someone comes in to take their place. Los Angeles gives zero fucks about pro football yet the NFL found two teams to move in there in quick succession. Chicago is the next largest market in the country after LA and football obsessed, it's a no-brainer.

Pretty sure the Bears have to approve of another team, and if they do, that other team would have to share the field in Arlington like LA/NY do. Your point is beyond moot.

I've tried to find where the Bears would "have to approve of another team".

Do you mean the league would have to approve a 2nd team to Chicago? Also, if Soldier Field is available, why would a 2nd team have to share the field in Arlington?
I've also read where they gonna upgrade Soldier Field to entice a 2nd team

If the Bears build a outdoor stadium out in the burbs, and Chicago puts a roof on Soldier Field and the new team starts winning, the Bears are done. Only an asshole would want to drive out to Arlington Heights and sit in the cold to watch a bunch of perpetual losers get their asses kicked on a weekly basis. Actually, this season will be good practice for that.
