I've tried to find where the Bears would "have to approve of another team".

Do you mean the league would have to approve a 2nd team to Chicago? Also, if Soldier Field is available, why would a 2nd team have to share the field in Arlington?
I've also read where they gonna upgrade Soldier Field to entice a 2nd team

Bears are part of that vote and have enough pull to nix it if they don't want competition. Per Hoge and Jahns podcast.

Basically the NFL will side with the Bears over the city if it comes to something like that

Yeah, I'm not sure of the specifics but they make a decent point that it would be bad look optically to the owners to punish Chicago for leaving to the suburbs by putting a 2nd team in the old stadium.

Alot of NFL teams are building new stadiums in the suburbs. So fir the Bears to be punished by it..it could set a bad precedent.

So the Bears would abandon their sentimental connection to Chicago in order to maximize revenue, but the league would let a franchise languish in Jacksonville FL instead of thrive in Chicago out of loyalty to the McCaskeys? NFL is a revenue sharing league. Either they are in this for the money, or they aren't.

Let's try and keep our shit straight here.

Meaning they will allow the 2nd team to play in Arlington but not in Soldier Field, genius

To me, this is all about leverage. Chicago is trying to do what they can to entice the Bears to stay. They should have made an earlier attempt to negotiate rather than brushing the Bears attempts to move off as some hard ball tactic.

But, I'm not buying it. The city used to have a team with the monopoly on the market and weren't serious with negotiations. But now all of a sudden they are willing to welcome the hapless Jaguars to franchise in town who will have to play 2nd fiddle to the Bears. Yeah right lol!

This is all about trying to gain some leverage and put pressure on the Bears to stay.

Not gonna work either

If they had made plans for a new stadium instead of those shitty renovations about 20 years ago, might be a different story

If the Bears build a outdoor stadium out in the burbs, and Chicago puts a roof on Soldier Field and the new team starts winning, the Bears are done. Only an asshole would want to drive out to Arlington Heights and sit in the cold to watch a bunch of perpetual losers get their asses kicked on a weekly basis. Actually, this season will be good practice for that.

I have to admit these hot takes are comedy gold

I'd welcome the Jags. Chicago could easily support 2 teams but if I were them, I'd be looking for a deal in Bears stadium unless the city gave that them sports book that they denied the Bear.

I'd have to see more proof that the NFL will side with the Bears over the city........if they don't want competition..
Legally I don't see how the Bears can hold the city "hostage" with regards to blocking a 2nd team that might be more and potentially be a winner.

Good points.
I know one thing, I'm sick of seeing the Bears lose yr in and out. While many seem complacent about it.
Hell I've read stories about players focusing on picking up a check. It use to not be that way.

You know, if you guys are so down on the Bear for moving and not being a dominant team, just leave the Bears board now. Why wait for more jags to show up?

I don't care about the Jags or Arlington Heights
It's about getting a team in Chicago with a commitment to winning and being a SB contender.

It's called being a fair weather fan. Just go follow those awesome Jags. A team that has won a total of 15 games over the last 4 years. You've picked a bigger train wreck than the Bear as an example, LOL. None here are surprised.

In the city, probably. But when you move to West Bumblefuck Rural Arlington Heights, they have the Pony Express ride in with a paper check

I'm trying to find the article or interview where one of the players mentioned, after another loss "well we get paid Thurs.".
