Im not sure I would call them scumbags.

I do however feel that baseball as much as it was put back on the map by the moon shots is a better game in the pure.

I dont think we are getting the crazy doping as we did but there are guys taking banned substances for better healing etc.

No need to juice anymore when you have companies with innovative meds (banned) that help endurance and healing faster along with strength but I do not think it has the exact same affect as pure juice like bonds, mac, and sosa.

You really arent seeing the frankensteins anymore.

All three of those guys lied about taking the shit and so did Braun. That, to me, makes all four of them scumbags along with managers like LaRussa and Baker where it was openly rampant in the clubhouse.

I provided his home run ratio, his quitting andro when finding out kids might be using it when a reporter spotted it in clear site in his lockerroom as well as his own admission that he used it to heal from his various and frequent injuries.

Well, Brett, McGwire, after his big time rookie year had a fall in his home-run numbers. AFter he started taking Roids with Conseco and company he really bulked up and the home-runs got longer and more prevalent. When he was in high school and college, he was a tall lanky kind of guy. That entire family of his is very big boned and tall except for his older brother who is average size and an excellent golfer. His younger brother is bigger than Mark at about 6'8" and was a pretty good quarterback in college. His father is big also but was knocked down with polio and limps from it. He was an orthodontist in Claremont, Ca.

I am not saying that McGwire wasn't a good power hitter. Hell so were Bonds, Braun, and Sosa, but please don't tell me that McGwire would have put up the numbers that he did without cheating because he wouldn't have. He became a physical beast as did Sosa and Bonds and it was not natural. When a hitter could get fooled on a pitch and get it on the end of a bat or its handle and still clear the fences, the guy is likely cheating. Baseball looked the other way with roids in order to make more money and should be ashamed.

So, melky Cabrera is a scum bag, right? He not only lied about his roid use but try to cover it up like Braun. So, in essence, you are supporting a scum bag that you hate? Am I correct?

So, you believe 80 percent of baseball players during that time period and oh probably around 90 percent of football players are scumbags, right?

So it's ok to cheat and lie about it if you get caught because "80%" of baseball players cheated too?

Explain to me why 80% of baseball players didn't jack 70 HRs in 1998? I guess all the other guys who used roids didn't follow the directions or something.

Melky admitted he used roids and payed the price for it. He knows if he does it again, he'll probably be suspended for life unless the Players Union has something else to say about it. Either way, he'll never get into the HOF, but he's earned a chance to redeem himself.

I'm not saying he was getting in, but his career's not over yet. He led the league in batting avg when he got caught. A few more seasons of that along with a championship or two and you never know what could have happened. Either way, he lost out on that, millions $$ in earnings, and tarnished his reputation. McGwire remained silent when asked about it in front of a congressional hearing, so he doesn't get any sympathy from me.

And hear is your third sign. Brett, you may be a troll from time to time but I will talk baseball with you and Dews all day every day over these two people.

They couldn't find anyone else who wanted it is my guess. Not sure what sign you're talking about. A little elaboration on your part would be great. Take your time, I know sharing abstract thoughts is a bit of a challenge for you.[emoji3]

Mad cuz I dissed your boy? You were probably just a child when that nonsense with Sosa and McGwire went down. From my viewpoint it was incredibly corney, tasteless and a tad pathetic. I'm not sure what's more sad, your homerism for McFraud or the way all those fans were let down after buying into the dog and pony show. It's really not even worth debating, especially with someone as blind and naive as you.

That you have no idea what you are talking about? Your own people dont even back you.

My opinions are my own, I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and I don't come here looking for vindication. Unlike you, I don't get butt hurt or feel the need to call people stupid for having a different perspective. To the contrary, I like a good debate as long as it doesn't get personal.

Melky Cabrera lied and tried to hide how he used the roids. So, tell me you hate him?

So you do not think that McGwire used roids? Come-on. He never approached the power numbers that he had as a rookie until he started cheating.

This is from Wikipedia:

Steroid use

In a 1998 article by Associated Press writer Steve Wilstein, McGwire confessed to taking androstenedione,[23] an over-the-counter muscle enhancement product that had already been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the NFL, and the IOC. At the time, however, use of the substance was not prohibited by Major League Baseball and it was not federally classified as an anabolic steroid in the United States until 2004.[24]

Jose Canseco released a book, Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big, in 2005. In it, he wrote positively about steroids and made various claims—among them, that McGwire had used performance enhancing drugs since the 1980s and that Canseco had personally injected him with them.

In 2005, McGwire and Canseco were among 11 baseball players and executives subpoenaed to testify at a congressional hearing on steroids. During his testimony on March 17, 2005, McGwire declined to answer questions under oath when he appeared before the House Government Reform Committee. In a tearful opening statement, McGwire said:

Asking me or any other player to answer questions about who took steroids in front of television cameras will not solve the problem. If a player answers 'No,' he simply will not be believed; if he answers 'Yes,' he risks public scorn and endless government investigations ... My lawyers have advised me that I cannot answer these questions without jeopardizing my friends, my family, and myself. I will say, however, that it remains a fact in this country that a man, any man, should be regarded as innocent unless proven guilty.[25]

On January 11, 2010, McGwire admitted to using steroids on and off for a decade and said, "I wish I had never touched steroids. It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era."[26] He admitted using them in the 1989/90 offseason and then after he was injured in 1993. He admitted using them on occasion throughout the 1990s, including during the 1998 season. McGwire said that he used steroids to recover from injuries.[27]

McGwire's decision to admit using steroids was prompted by his decision to become hitting coach of the St. Louis Cardinals. According to McGwire, he took steroids for health reasons rather than to improve performance; however, a drug dealer who claimed to have provided steroids to McGwire asserted that his use was to improve his size and strength, rather than to just maintain his health.[28]

There are other things that I could relate relative to McGwire being a scum bag as well as Sosa. I coached with a guy who was a back-up catcher for the Cubs, named Cruz for a year along with another guy who played in the Cubs organization in their minor league system. Cruz told me how Sosa bought drugs in the D.R. and injected there a lot. One time he had $10K stolen from his hotel room which was intended to buy the crap.

The notion that McGwire was concerned only about his health and rehabbing himself is just not true, Brett. He is a scum bag.

Do you read? I said that I hate the shit and the people who used it. And what the **** are you talking about "supporting a scum bag"? I said who I wished that the Sox had traded for. They didn't so life goes on. Lets see, you were probably in the stands getting plastered and shouting the praises of SamME SOSO huh, You watched as he dumped buckets of water over his fat roided head as he was breaking records for home-runs. SOSO without roids would have lasted maybe 6 or 7 years in the majors as a 15-20 skinny home-run guy. Yeah......."Bez ball ben vely gud to me".
