So basically Beach is almost a lock to be on the team next year pending a good pre-season?

Who fills in at the D opening? Hendry?

buffs biggest problem is his inconsistency. Period. Where was he in the Nashville series? He wasn't.

Players are going to come and go. Fans will have to get used to it. Beach could pop right in Buff's role and if he's consistent, SCORE MORE GOALS, and play an all around better game. Skate Better, Puck Handle better.

Sonny take off the fan glasses and use some NHL reasoning.
to be fair, Buff played on defense half of the series.

The money would not count against the cap in Rockford.
Understood. I'm guessing that Reasoner would be a 4th line center with Fraser moving on.

Reasoner will be Madden at half the cost. He'll be on the team.

Incredible, how many people in general are upset with this move.

We sold Buff for the best we could get, and we still made out in this trade.

5 prospects and shed 4 million to sign Hammer and Niemi. Yeah terrible move.

Blank jersey for you from now on.

I didnt think any way in hell teams would be taking Sopel in the "package deal". I really thought if teams did, they wouldnt give up as much.

Don't the Hawks now have 5 of the first 60 picks - and maybe more if/when they move Versteeg and Ladd?

Buff played game one and two of 6. Almost Half.

Regardless Sharp > Buff..

Hell yea, just got a call from a friend about the trade and I love it. The Thrashers got fucked on this deal IMO. Haven't seen all the specs, but gettin rid of those 2 salaries is fucking unreal. If we could convince them to take those two maybe they'll take Huet to? Eager was a goner to me anyways, one more concussion and he's done. Love all three of the guys and will never forget them here, especially the Sarge, but there contracts....good riddance.

Not me. Buff's head is up his ass most of the season.

Remind me to go to the Thrashers-Flyers games to see Buff and Chrissy renew their vows.

At least four. 24th, 30th, 54th, 60th.

Plus Marin.

You'd have to say Stan did a good job here. Especially taking sopels 2.5 mil.

Pretty solid moves here. Shed lots of salary, get high picks and a good prospect back. I certainly can't complain. And for everyone complaining about losing Buff's big game finishing ability, let's not forget the rest of this team's dagger in the heart opponent killers. We have plenty of those left. Sharp certainly scored some huge goals in the playoffs, and he's still here. Versteeg played a magnificent two-way game in the playoffs, and he's still here. Granted we may still lose one of those two, but it's all about scoring depth in the playoffs, and nobody can say we don't have plenty of that left in our core.

He did an awesome job.

5 potential prospects for a guy who shows up for 20 games a season while also giving yourself room to sign Hammer and Niemi.
