I'm sure it wasn't anything more then 1 million if that, and hell he isn't worth much more.

Trading Eager made Sopel expendable. He wouldn't have nearly as many dumb penalties to kill off anymore.

He did an awesome job.

5 potential prospects for a guy who shows up for 20 games a season while also giving yourself room to sign Hammer and Niemi.
You can also thank Mcdonough for shutting the door on Dudley so that Dudley would want HIS players back.

Maybe we were a little hard on Stan'o'Mac too early?

As I said lets wait a few years before we pass judgement on him.

Now lets see how he drafts... anyone think we could trade up with the 24th and 30th pick?

I just got off the phone with someone that Knows Morin from the USA program. Extremely high remarks.

This person is very surprised Dudley gave him up.
Maybe Dudley is still working with the Hawks

Really, if I were in ATL I'd be pretty fucking pissed off at this deal.

Sad to see Buff go. Sopel, too, but it's a business.

Freed up necessary cap space.

Perhaps Stan learned a lesson about frequently concussed players when he picked up Kim Whohnsson. How many has Eager had in the past two years?

Could it be Cheveldayoff's (sp?) connection with the Wolves that helped scoot this one along?

I don't know about that. Buff is worthy of the prospects coming back. He proved that when his head is in the game he is a force to be reckoned with.

Shame he couldn't do that 100% of the time or this trade would have hurt a tad more.

Right now as a Hawk fan I'm pretty fucking happy so far. And again I really like Buff!

Not a chance. Akim was Dudleys pick hands down. I remember talking to him at Prospect camp a couple of years ago about Akim.

This trade has DUDLEY written all over it.

I'm sad to see Buff go....and even Sopel, but I knew it was coming and had to be done. We got a good return. I'm still going to be wearing my Buff jersey with pride next season.

If Buff gets some regular season consistency, It'll be a good move for Dudley.
Sopel just said on Twitter it's just a rumor.
It's also being said that the hold up is minor. It will go through.

I think we made out like bandits on this one. Didn't realize Morin was such a stud til I came home and looked him up, to me if we had a team of OHLers I'd be happy as shit. That league just produces. The 1st and 2nd picks are huge, Reasoner will be very solid when surrounded by so much talent, as will anyone who comes here. If we can get 30 points from him, which is what I'd say, he's gonna be well worth it, and he's cheaper than Madden.

I love this trade.

This move makes me believe that Ladd will be back. We need his physical presence along with his skill set.

Hold up on trade call appears to be tied to waiting for league personnel to land in Los Angeles.

Haven't officially been told by the team. I get that players have the internet. (Rolls eyes).

Trade call that would make Chi-Atl deal official has not yet been completed. Not sure why. Players have not been told they are traded yet.

Worth noting as others have that trade call still pending on this bluckbuster. Usually that's a formality. But worth noting NHL must approve

So from my rough calculations, Hawks save just over $5 million in cap space with this trade

Sopel was on the phone with my colleague Burnside for another story just now. “Really? I didn’t know. Off to Atlanta then,” Sopel said

I'd love to see him do well but on a team like that, which is fledgling, its gonna be a little bit of a shellshock from taunting fans in Vancouver, and skating around with the IndianHead flag after lifting the cup.
