This story was fucking stupid for a host of reasons.

Here is the device in question:

1. The kid was an idiot for not listening to his engineering teacher when he was told to not go around school with it or take it to any other classes.

2. The hashtag activism on this deal was dumb as hell. Most people were making jokes like it was your typical wall clock. It wasn't/isn't.

3. Obama, Hillary, and any other politician trying to ride the coattails of this shit is dumb. If anyone of us walked up to Obama or Hillary with that thing we'd be tackled, shot, whatever almost immediately.

4. The only two people with a at least partial brain in this situation were the engineering teacher who told the kid to not carry it around and the teacher who turned the kid in and was trying to be better safe than sorry. The police were heavy handed and the social media reaction was over the top and dumb.

5. Everyone is jumping to the race angle on this but I really doubt how much that had to do with it. If a white kid brought that to school I have zero doubt he's getting turned in as well.

He didn't show it to anyone until the alarm went off during English class and his English teacher approached him, which should have inevitably triggered the bomb that blew up the school but the kid wasn't a chemistry expert, just an electrical wizard. Turns out he forgot the bomb at home. Kids can be so damn forgetful these days.

That is clearly not a bomb, any bomb expert could have told them that, the police generally have those on staff. Also the engineering teacher that he showed it too could have explained that, did the school do the sensible thing and bring this device to any experts for opinions? NOPE! Did the english teacher confiscate the bomb and continue to teach class? YES! Oh its a bomb, whelp I confiscated it, now it clearly can't go off in the meantime while I finish class and have the principal wait until 6th period to get the police and arrest this menace to society!

Didn't see it on my phone. I agree with FT still thought. The two teachers seem to be the only ones using brains. Everyone else should either know better or stop overreacting

I understand being cautious, but this should have never gotten to the police, at some point common sense needs to take over. Why would the english teacher take it and then continue teaching class? I mean comon. You think you have a bomb and you just keep on teaching like nothing happened? No, that is very questionable in itself.

It went off in his class. He should have confiscated it. Wasn't it the principal that called the cops.

Yep and the comments I am reading on this are sickening, people trying to justify their agreement with how the school handled this by saying things like "Well what if it was a bomb?" or "This time it wasn't but if it was a bomb next time I'm glad the school is being so proactive" and "This kid did this on purpose to stir up the media and knew that his racial background would spark outrage across the nation."

How terrible of a person do you have to be to make comments like these? This is a kid not an adult and I think he just made it because he thought it was cool and wanted to show it off.
