Look at that, that bomb actually has bomb materials in it. Ugh, it seems that protecting the ignorant is normal in our society. The school made a mistake, the kid did no harm bringing this to class, was the english teacher wrong in confiscating it? Nope I don't think so. Did the school over-react? Yep entirely. Did the police over-react? Yep entirely.

No-one here is arguing that there was a problem with the English teacher confiscating the device. I am arguing that the English teacher clearly didn't see it as enough of a threat to stop class and have the school evacuated when they saw a kid with a so called bomb.

This is a complete over-reaction and no-one wants to back down because of silly pride. Well I say **** your pride, the police and school fucked up and need to apologize. End of story. We're done here.

Comparing thumbnails to draw a conclusion.... The educated conclusion would be, well, if I'm a teacher and I need to make a decision based on merely seeing a thumbnail, then yes, you call the police. If you can touch and see the full working scale of it, then no, it is not a thumbnail, and yes, seeing that it is a clock would be dead obvious to any electronic engineering hobbyist at a minimum.

You can see everything and it's purpose on the clock, making it even easier. Yeah, you need to actually look physically at it, including having the freedom to hold and move components if you want.

This story was fucking stupid for a host of reasons.

Here is the device in question:
0916ahmedclock

1. The kid was an idiot for not listening to his engineering teacher when he was told to not go around school with it or take it to any other classes.

2. The hashtag activism on this deal was dumb as hell. Most people were making jokes like it was your typical wall clock. It wasn't/isn't.

3. Obama, Hillary, and any other politician trying to ride the coattails of this shit is dumb. If anyone of us walked up to Obama or Hillary with that thing we'd be tackled, shot, whatever almost immediately.

4. The only two people with a at least partial brain in this situation were the engineering teacher who told the kid to not carry it around and the teacher who turned the kid in and was trying to be better safe than sorry. The police were heavy handed and the social media reaction was over the top and dumb.

5. Everyone is jumping to the race angle on this but I really doubt how much that had to do with it. If a white kid brought that to school I have zero doubt he's getting turned in as well.

In all seriousness, they should have asked the engineering teacher after they spoke with the kid.

Do we know if the bomb squad called in?

Not sure if moving components to see if it's a fake bomb is a good idea.

Lol at this story. If this were a bomb it would be strapped to his chest and he'd be yelling about Allah. Racist teachers should have known that's how all Muslims blow themselves up.

If you know what you are looking at, then it is 100% objective.

Can anyone explain to me why the kid constantly refers to the clock as "my invention?" You didn't invent a damn thing kid, you just assembled a digital clock.

Because he's a giant nerd.

Everyone knows that when you build a bomb you put a giant LED read out on it so there's lots of tension while Harrison Ford defuses it as the time ticks down.

Engineering teacher probably told him not to show it to people because he knew the level of morons he works with.
