I'll volley it back to you that there was no guarantee Ladd would if he was resigned.[/quote]

Yup. But I will say, Brouwer showed he can do it, and from what I have seen of Bickell I am none too worried...especially once he is completely acclimated to the NHL level.

Brouwer maybe, but I'm not sure Bickell is the skater Ladd is/was. Either way Boland and whom ever it is will need to find chemistry. I hope traveling with the team and watching the playoffs has put some fire into Beach. He could be such a wild card this season. He has size, skates well, and has hands. His determination to succeed and learn will be what's in question.

We just won the Stanley Cup. I'm not worried what so ever. Had we NOT just won the Stanley Cup, I'd be mildly concerned with such fairly drastic changes.

The last part of Beach concerns me as well. Other than that I do think he has the tools. Somehow I think they would prefer that Beach become more of a top 2 line player with his skill set.

As I think most would agree he can be. He had great numbers last year but was also playing some what out of his talent level, by age and experience. I have the feeling Beach will do better in Chicago than he would ever do in Rockford. I don't know why.

I'd also like to see them invite Makarov to camp. Just to see what he has.

Have no doubt Brouwer could handle the duties; he did it last year and was playing great before his fathers sickness. (I know he is a professional and that situation shouldn't have bothered him and it wasnt an excuse - RIGHT SONNY?) Damn off topic again.....sorry.

Always been a big Browuer fan and will continue to drive that wagon.

As far as Beach, still a very young kid and seems to have matured considerably this past year as a hockey player. With the leadership on this club I don't worry about him going off the reservation.

Plus add in the peer pressure that can be applied by those guys that just earned the Cup and that could play very hard into Beach maturing. Almost a get with the program, or go away mentality can be applied to him. Odd that it can be a benefit, really.

I think Makarov added to the mix in camp could help spur some nice competition for position in the camp. Which just continues to make me think of how nice the set of prospects are for this team.

Ladd PROVED he could this season. The others haven't proven anything yet. And I'm a Brouwer fanboy as well...

Oh I'm pretty sure Brouwers proven it, by having almost identical numbers, but that said the question will be is where they want to play Brouwer. He can't be on two lines at the same time.

Yes Brouwer has proven it without a doubt. And if you asked me which player I'd chose, Brouwer or Ladd, it would be Brouwer at this point.

And thats not easy because I'm a huge Ladd fan. Brouwer has grown on me though. His ceiling is higher at this point than Ladds, IMO.

I meant to say that Beach and Bickell haven't proven anything yet (even though Bickell has spent some time in the big show). I agree about Brouwer; he has proven himself. It would be a tough call between Ladd and Brouwer. Unfortunately, that's not a call that we have to make now.

Well for the team that was an easy decision on Salary Cap hit alone. Brouwer is only a little over a mil for one more year.

I agree on Bickell and Beach, but they really have no choice in the matter but to fill a few holes. My question is will Beach show up for twice as many games as Buff did? Will he be a clutch playoff performer? Bickell no doubt can replace any of the guys on the 4th line IMO, other than Center. He could have last year. As for a higher line role, I'm unsure but also unsure he'll get the chance due to more talent being here ready to go.

That's why we couldnt keep him. If his arbitration ruling comes back to large we would have had to release him or move another player to make room for him.
