Cubs Minor League Update 8/29 | Chi City Sports News - Blog - Message Board - Fans

Smokies clinched at least a tie of their division last night, and already won the first half anyway. They are a really good team this year. Iowa should win their division, though they are only a half game up right now.

Smokies getting killed today, but they clinched the division anyway because Huntsville lost. They won both the first and second half titles.

Boise is kind of rookie, but not officially, like Jntg4 mentions.

Ben Wells is apparently a guy to keep an eye on. They went a little over slot with him, and he should start pitching this fall.

Iowa Cubs playing for their playoff lives today at 2. If they win they are in, if they lose then they are out.

Jay Jackson starts.

Actually, if they lose they are tied. Unless they don't do tiebreakers in the Minors, they'd have to go to a 1-game playoff. They are a game up on Memphis.

Jason Dubois just hit his second homer of the game, 6-3 I-Cubs now. Still bottom of the fifth.

Justin Berg thought he was still on the Cubs, and allowed three runs in the seventh. Game tied 6-6.
