I'm proud of the D but I've seen this movie before. The D starts to wear down. They put the Bears in a position to beat the Texans away. They won the game last week. They feel a need to carry the team. They are 300% on every play. Soon will be the game where 3 top defensive players get carted off with injuries. Then the team is total shit.
Offense needs to get better quickly.
You're a complete idiot (speaking broadly here) if you didn't think the offense (and Caleb) would need time to figure things out. New system, lots of new guys all over. It doesn't help that the interior of the line is getting killed and teams are exploiting that until we prove we can stop it.
Waldron needs to adjust, the interior needs to get better and Caleb needs to continue to get reps and learn from his mistakes.
What's concerning is the lack of a run game with Swift getting blown up in the backfield so often. That and the lack of big plays. With a guy like Caleb you're counting on some big plays to carry us through the learning process of play to play, getting the ball out quickly, getting in a rhythm and so on. We're lucky to have a defense playing lights out while the offense tries to get their shit together. Everyone knows the defense can't dominate for 35 minutes per game and hold teams below 17 every game to win.
No one expected us to win in Houston and we didn't. It's a miracle we were in it to the last possession even with so many issues on offense. That's encouraging, not something to complain about.
