Imagine using those resources on a top, 1st round Olineman and a playmaking 1st round TE, etc. Thats "The Haul" dude... its what we could have gotten to add to a veteran team.... to add to Odunze and a couple of others.

Ask DJ who he would have preferred throwing the ball to him tonight?? -- Fields all day. The players know. We saw that tonight from DJ - pure frustration.

That said, I merely made an observation. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Caleb is our guy now so its all water under the bridge. I/we support Caleb 100% or until the wheels fall off.

Nuff said.
Personally, I supported the haul. Not to keep fields, not because I hated Caleb. Because I thought he was overhyped, with other good qbs, and we could have someone else offer the moon which would lead to strong assests to continue to build a deep strong team on both lines.

Lots of bitchin in here. I had this down as a loss.they actually did better than I thought. Now he has 5-6 winnable games in a row where he can get better for the difficult late season nfcn run.
And all along those next 7 games the team will get better. Too bad we have to wait another year to get him a better Oline and OC.

I mean how many times do they have to lineup and send 6 players and not have an answer for this. Come on Waldron

I'm proud of the D but I've seen this movie before. The D starts to wear down. They put the Bears in a position to beat the Texans away. They won the game last week. They feel a need to carry the team. They are 300% on every play. Soon will be the game where 3 top defensive players get carted off with injuries. Then the team is total shit.

Offense needs to get better quickly.
You're a complete idiot (speaking broadly here) if you didn't think the offense (and Caleb) would need time to figure things out. New system, lots of new guys all over. It doesn't help that the interior of the line is getting killed and teams are exploiting that until we prove we can stop it.

Waldron needs to adjust, the interior needs to get better and Caleb needs to continue to get reps and learn from his mistakes.

What's concerning is the lack of a run game with Swift getting blown up in the backfield so often. That and the lack of big plays. With a guy like Caleb you're counting on some big plays to carry us through the learning process of play to play, getting the ball out quickly, getting in a rhythm and so on. We're lucky to have a defense playing lights out while the offense tries to get their shit together. Everyone knows the defense can't dominate for 35 minutes per game and hold teams below 17 every game to win.

No one expected us to win in Houston and we didn't. It's a miracle we were in it to the last possession even with so many issues on offense. That's encouraging, not something to complain about.

He needs to play to learn. There will be days like this but oline needs to at least approach average
I came into the season expecting 6-8 weeks for the team to kind of all get on the same page... but man it looks ugly. But yes, if I could pick one thing right now, the line just really really has to step it up.

For clarity, sky isn't falling for me, but I wish it didn't look so horrendous up front...

When you miss a wide open receiver by 10 yards with no pressure I don’t think blaming the 0 line works

I don't even know what your post has to do with what I said. The whole message board is trashing Caleb and the offense. Quote one of them.

New O, OC, rookie qb..:yep. Gonna take a bit. Oline sucks. Poles needs to stop playing money ball with the line and spend some money.

Caleb needs to hit the intermediate to long shots…or at least give his guys a chance…other than those throws (maybe 5-6). I thought he improved from last week. If his confidence isn’t completely shot, I expect him to improve next week. Once he starts hitting those and learns to punish the d for blitzing he will be a good qb.

It doesn't look good. But I'd say both trubisky and fields had way worse olines. He's missing everything that is in his control, which worries me.
Fields and Trubisky had a little time on the bench to study, even if it was only a few games. Maybe we should have started the season with Bageant as starter…

I would like to see these plays where he missed wide open recievers when not being pressured.

Williams had no accuracy in pre season with no pressure. He's not NFL ready.
He also did not have accuracy issues in college, so I don’t think it’s who he is.

I see this more as the coordinator’s problem scheming guys open. I mean no one seemed to be open, which led to his pressing to make a play/give his guys a chance to make one.

AND, to be fair, a case of a rookie QB needing to grow, mature, gain wisdom. His OC and QB coach need to step up there!

I really see some concerning aspects to his game. He throws alot of wobblers. He isn't pinpoint accurate. He isn't as mobile or elusive in the pocket as he was in college. He focuses in on his first read and doesn't do as well moving through his progressions. He isn't keeping his eyes downfield. He doesn't throw as hard or strong enough for the NFL level. He holds the ball too long.

Now hopefully, some of this will be corrected with time and experience. But I'm not sure all of it will be. Some mau just be flaws to his game.

Reality is they are an 0-2 team and the offense is ass. Beating the Titans the way they did was a fluke as the NFL historical record indicated. Every DC is going to watch the tape from tonight and blitz this OL to death.

Texans got pressure on 36 of 37 pass plays so saying Williams should have completed passes on plays without pressure is disingenuous.
