Can anyone honestly look at the rosters of the 4 Championship teams that competed to be in the Super Bowl, and think we're only a Caleb Williams away?

The Bears still need a lot, including 3 new OL (LT, G, C) and 2 new WRs for starters. But, this much is perfectly clear to me, I saw enough great QB play in the playoffs and SB to know our Fourth Quarter Failure QB would never be able to lead the Bears to a SB win. Purdy and Mahomes had to stage many comeback wins this season Fields would never be able to do. The Bears need a huge upgrade at QB too. I believe Poles knows that. Welcome to CHI Caleb!!!
Exactly. Draft Caleb. Is he the answer, who knows. But you have to keep trying. And he’s next in line.

For me it's about the coaching as much as players...Big Red and Spags demonstrate coaches that are at the top level of their professions. Awareness, efficiency, detail are traits they exemplify.

Curious reading this morning that 49er players say they didn't know the overtime rules, while Mahomes in his interview yesterday was lamenting the monotonous lecturing they received on the overtime rules.

Considering the Bears should have swept the Lions, I do not see us far off. If anything I look at the product of the NFL and think the league is mediocre.

We have some decent cap space to work with, especially once we cut EJ and Whitehair. We also have an extra 1st round pick at #9 overall and maybe we get an extra 2nd rd pick from trading Fields. We have some tools to fill the gaps in our roster.
We got destroyed by GB. I don’t think beating a divisional team is a great barometer of overall success.

Further, playoff games are a completely different animal than regular season.

Because I really want to get the pulse on this.

This isn't about Caleb Williams vs Justin Fields, so if you want to turn it into one of those threads, **** you.

Just objectively tell me, in your opinion, do you really think all this roster is missing is Caleb Williams and off we go to the Super Bowl?

Because that's how a lot of you guys are talking, and when I compare the Bears' roster to the 49ers, Lions, Chiefs and Ravens and shit, even the Packers, the Bears still have some significant holes.

And the reason I even bring this up, is because I suspect the same people who will say "well, even with Williams, of course the Bears have holes that need to be filled before we can compete for a Super Bowl) were some of the same people looking at CJ Stroud and using him as justification for drafting Williams, because somehow a magical QB can just carry people to Super Bowls, even though CJ Stroud did NOT do that for his team, and got absolutely SMOKED when playing a legit team in the Ravens.

So which is it? Pick a lane.

Because those of us who want the haul, see an opportunity to close a 2-3 year talent gap in a single draft with the picks and players we'd be getting back, plus see a San Fransisco team that almost won a Super Bowl with a QB who wasn't exactly God's gift to quarterbacking.
Once the Bears take CW and we tread water for a few more years the same people that begged for that will complain.
The quickest way to close that talent gap is trade for as many higher picks as possible, period, full stop. Anything else is insane.

And what happens when Tyson Bagent is starting and QB is clearly holding this team back?

Did the Chiefs offense look so great last night? Their offense looked putrid for most of the game. Actually got sparked by a punt return screw up by San Fran. They do not have better receivers than the Bears. Their offensive line looks no better.

They won on defense and a QB that makes things happen late in games.
The Chiefs offense was spotty most of the year.

And how would they do that? Some of those picks would be into the future, and still others could be further traded for more future assets.

Follow this to completion. Yes, the Bears could improve with additional high draft picks—or they could bust or be underwhelming. The anti-Williams crowd is always telling me how overrated first round picks are.

Conversely, any additional picks who do work out could potentially simply be used to replace good expensive players currently on the roster, yielding a reduced net return.

The Bears get a great corner. Cool, there’s your JJ replacement. The Bears also get a great O-Lineman—Cool, that’s good. The Bears also get a serviceable-to-good WR. Ok, there’s your Mooney replacement.

You could hit with every single pick you get for CW (unlikely), and that still probably wouldn’t be enough to hugely move the needle toward a Super Bowl.

Yeah that week 18 Loss was nowhere near as close as the final score

Tyson who?
Since we all agree the draft is as much a dart throw as anything else all I'm saying
is we need as many darts as we can get, that's all.

Just because Caleb Williams wouldn't be the starter in this scenario, doesn't automatically mean we're going to Tyson Bagent.

This is the kind of inane arguing that I was referring to when I said its easy to infer things from some of the bullshit that gets spouted here.

If your goal is to move down 1 spot for a haul and grab Maye or Daniels then sure. But if you are attempting to make an argument to keep Fields then what game did you watch that makes you think thats an option?

You think Fields with his 53 rating in the 4th quarter can put the game on his shoulders in the suerbowl to force OT? The dude cant handle the reg season 4th quarter pressure but he will magically get better when the pressure of the game is 10 times higher? You Fields homers are delusional

It does not matter the haul you get, If you dont have a QB it really doesnt matter

On the record...

Trade the pick. Not a QB away and I'm not all in on Caleb anyway.

Need at at least 3 starters on offense and easily make the case for 4.

Same story on defense. Legitimately need 7-8 players before this roster is ready to compete.

Also, need death, because the Bears were so lucky with injuries this season.
