Theo said he building team with Vitters and Jackson in AAA. What 3B and OF you expect Cubs to go after?

Actually since we were talking about it earlier, McLouth would make some sense as a buy low candidate. Now that he is a hero, the O's will probably keep him, but his skillset is what Theo likes.

Name i keep reading about in OF is Pagan lol. Guess he had 4.0+ WAR this year

3B i keep reading about is Youk. Depends if he really wants to be on contender or cares about money more. I can see Cubs offering him more money on 2 yr deal then flipping him at deadline.

Youkilis makes no sense in terms of the plan, but the possibility that coming to the organization Theo is running might intrigue Youk. I don't know if it is a great fit either way, but he would certainly add patience to the lineup. Pagan would be doubtful to me because I think he probably gets decent coin as well. Maholm/DeJesus signings would seem to be more likely.

Youk makes sense for plan cause he would only sign 2 yr deal which would allow team to flip him for specs. I dont think Pagan make more then DeJesus on the FA market.

Perhaps, but supply of OFs is pretty damn low since after Hamilton and Hunter is basically Pagan.

Padilla only knows what the front office is willing to tell him. We basically won't know for sure until it happens.

That and the phrase anyone of significance is sufficiently vague to basically mean anyone besides Greinke and Hamilton.

I take it back. There are some interesting options out there in the OF, and perhaps even with the inflation of major league salaries in the CBA there are some DeJesus type values.

I would love the Cubs to take a chance on BJ Upton.

The Cubs will need to acquire two or three starting pitchers merely to put a representative team on the field, opines Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times. Wittenmyer adds don't look for the Cubs to sign Greinke or Jake Peavy, as Shaun Marcum and Anibal Sanchez are more in line with the current front-office thinking.

Gordo is a pah-tee poo-pah.

Marcum wouldn't be a bad option at all. If he can stay healthy he could provide a lot of value.

Jeeze so many choices yet we will acquire very few of them. They seem to think that Marcum, Jackson and or Sanchez maybe our best options to go after but at the deadline what will Jed and Theo will be  should we sign with them and if they stay healthy and pitch well

They will be thinking of all the specs they can flip good starting pitching for at the deadline.
