I'm guessing that was Stan making that Detroitesque comparison?

I really don't want to see anymore. One was enough...as that's not panning out worth a shit.

I don't know if he's going to make an appearance, but I'm withholding my desire to completely write off Frolik before I see him in the postseason again. The guy was money in the second season last year. Been really disappointed with his regular season performance, but I'll forgive him if he turns it on come mid-April.

Right now his contract isn't looking pretty, but saying he is fucking awful to watch just shows lack of knowledge.

Jamal Mayers
has been excellent on the draw since Jonathan Toews was sidelined 13 games ago. Mayers is 65 of 118 since the injury and has really picked it up of late as he is 25 of 37 in the last four games heading into Sunday's action. "I'm getting an -opportunity to take -important draws, which I take pride in. I like being in those situations, and that's something I've worked really hard on," Mayers said. He's worth a look in deep pools if you use faceoffs as a category. (Source: Chicago Sun-Times)

1- super obvious trolling there.

2- I think the guy flat out blows but I like him as a playoff wild card. whether its because of injury, underachievement by someone else or just the desire to throw out a different look... #67 gives some flexibility I'm the lineup. his ability to kill penalties and protect a lead late does help.

shame he has close to zero offensive side to his game. you just know he's never going to sniff the net when the puck is on his blade.

Jamal Mayers

Really hoping the Blackhawks can work out a deal with Mayers. My guess is that they would be willing, probably just up to Mayers. Mayers is the exact type of 4th liner that the Blackhawks need on this team, now and in the future.

Given how brutal his offense has been, as you've mentioned, I don't have any idea how the **** he scored on that penalty shot in Game 6 last year.

He's not getting any younger, but I agree with you 100 percent. Love everything he's done this season.

Luckily he is still young. I mean he put up 20+ goal seasons with the Panthers.

His shots per game haven't gone down but his shooting percentage has in a big way. As I've said before, his release is god awful and his shot isn't very heavy on top of that. He needs to use his speed and skill to score, definitely not his shot.

his shots haven't gone down?

I find that impossible to believe. when he got here last year and even early this year, he was putting a ton of rubber on net (center mass on goalies to be exact). he doesn't even get those shots anymore. he is an offensive black hole.

Correct for the most part. Just looking at his shots per game compared to shooting percentage is what I was trying to illustrate. Something important to note is that Frolik did have some PP time on the Panthers (which he has not seen on the Hawks) so it would be smart to assume that he did have higher quality shots...even though he didn't exactly light it up on the PP.

08-09 he had 2 shots per game and a shooting percentage of 13.29%
09-10 he had 3.4 shots per game and a shooting percentage of 9.59%
10-11 he had 3.13 shots per game (3.32 with the Hawks) and a shooting percentage of 4.38%
11-12 he has 1.88 shots per game and a shooting percentage of 4.76%

His shots per game this year dropped off because of his playing time. However it is pretty close to his first 21 goal year, his shooting percentage is just god awful. I mean his percentages now are basically what you see a Dman at...not a forward like Frolik.

I believe he was also getting top-line minutes in Florida and playing in a system that allowed for more freedom than Q's defense-first philosophy.

I don't see him getting top line minutes here because he hasn't done anything to earn them.

First off, glad to see I wasn't totally making things up. 3.32 to 1.88 is a large drop off and it's something that visible just by watching him play. It's especially large and worth noting given that he just signed a nice contract and was brought back under the expectations of him chipping in 15 goals while serving 3rd line duty. He was to be the skill guy on a effective shut down 3rd line. Oops.

I wouldn't say his shots have dropped off just because of his ice time though. Don't you think the staff changed his role? Someone in the organization saw what we fans have all seen- he's a much better player without the puck than he is with it. Once that happened (essentially they gave up on the hope of him potting 20 ever again), his role was adjusted. Yes, I'm sure that includes less time on the ice, but what comes first- playing defensive first hockey or being put on the 4th line? I'd argue you could put him out on the 3rd line regularly and he's still going to be hounding the opposition way more than he's going to be creating rushes and floating wristers safely at the goalie. That's just his game now.

It's like what they did to #4. For whatever reason, the coaching staff decided to take any dynamic element out of his game and turn him into an overpaid, better skating Brent Sopel. Does anyone think the Meatball we've seen for the past 2 seasons is anything close to the player the Sharks offer sheeted? Nooooo way and thinking he's somehow regressed is just as silly. It's the coaches shaping players and having them fill roles.

arent "stats overrated"

Once again you fail to read the whole post.

I first off said something like "stats a lot of times are overrated"

In this post, I post some stats. Then, I talk about why the stats may be that way. Ice time, powerplay time, etc.

Feel free to contribute when you get a chance.
