Why don't you halt the pessimistic predictions for a little big closer to the season? What pro experience does Steve Kerr have?

Steve Kerr was a general manager in the NBA. He also is acknowledged as having a genius level IQ. Fred Hoiberg is not on Steve Kerr's level in anything.

And Steve Kerr didnt last long in Phoenix.. sooo...

But Mensa member Steve Kerr built such a strong foundation for those same Phoenix Suns to win multiple championships since 2008.

As many want to compare to this Steve Kerr.

Lets compare!

Steve Kerr
-Played from 1988-2003 for 6 different teams
-Won 5 NBA Championships (Bulls 3x, Spurs 2x) as a bench contributor
-TV Analyst after retirement
-Became GM of the Suns in 2007, resigned in 2010
-Became Warriors Head Coach in 2014, led team to Finals

Fred Hoiberg
-Played from 1995-2005
-Furthest any of his teams went was the ECF in 1998, which he did not play a minute in
-After retirement he became VP of basketball operations in Minnesota
-In 2010, he was hired as the Head Coach of Iowa State
-Iowa State won the Big 12 tournament in 2014 and 2015
-Took his 2014 team to the Sweet 16
-Lost to a 14 seed as a 3 seed in the 1st round in 2015

So Kerr has that worldly championship experience, Hoiberg does not. Hoiberg does having coaching experience though, while Kerr did not. Both have front office experience. Kerr worked in TV, while Hoiberg did not.

If only Fred sat next to Marv Albert for a couple of seasons!!!!
About the only negative I have about Hoiberg based on the resume is lack of championship experience of any kind outside of his high school teams. But its not an absolute requirement to advancing this team forward...

I mean going by the last several coaches to win championship (and this list goes back 20 years, thats how little coaches have won titles):

Popovich did not have any championship experience before coaching the Spurs
Spoelstra - had experience as an assistant of Miami with Riley in 2006.
Carlisle - Won as a member of the 1986 Boston Celtics! Had finals experience as assistant of 2000 Pacers
Jackson - Won as a member of the NY Knicks
Rivers - No championship experience; Finals appearance with 1994 Knicks
Riley - Won championship as member of 1972 Lakers
Larry Brown - Won ABA Championship as player, won NCAA Title as college coach, 2001 Finals experience
Tomjanovich - No championship experience, Finals appearance with 1986 Rockets

Gets even worse when you look at just the teams. Whichever team wins this game will only be the 9th different team since 1984.

What it must be like to be a non-Lakers, Bulls, Celtics, Heat, Spurs, Mavericks, Rockets, or Pistons fan.

Well yes I know. This is the first year since 2006 we have two fresh teams in the Finals, though one has won a championship before in the Warriors 40 years ago.

But with coaches its even worse since Jackson and Riley have moved teams and still won in their new places.

I don't even want to think about that. I'd be depressed and a hater just for hating's sake. Just like a Cleveland fan.

Actually let's make this sound even worse: Since Magic Johson's rookie season (call it the birth of the modern-NBA), only 9 teams have won an NBA Finals. Only two of those teams (Philly and Dallas) have only won one in that time period.

Yep...I think I had a mention of that in some thread earlier. The 80's was all Magic/Bird and then Isaiah in 89 and 90.. Jordan and Olajuwon ruled the 90's.. Shaq, Duncan, Kobe ruled the 00's. LeBron is ruling right now.

I'm beginning to think that the 'drink the kool aid' line is a throwaway that many people just don't know how to use anymore.

Those who don't learn from cliches are destined to repeat them. :troll:
