I don't care how old he was and what year he was into last season...he missed the 1B too often. I <3 his offensive production...but I don't think moving him to 2nd in favor of a sure-handed (sure-throwing) SS would be a terrible move.

Just watch next year. He was trying to do too much.

But he loses almost all his value at 2B. A 2B with a .780ish OPS is easy to find. A SS with a .780ish OPS and his potential to be a top tier defender is much much more valuable.

Potential: A promise...of promise? Everything I've read says he CAN be a great defensive player...everything I've seen says he isn't. I hope he becomes gold-glove caliber. I just have my doubts...that's all.

I think we can all agree that his problem is errors....

But, how many of his errors came in his first week? I think it was something like 5 or 7? Quite a few. He'll need work, but he's 20, which I think has a lot to do with it.

Not sure, but he had 3 in his 4th game (1st at Wrigley).

The Cubs 40 man roster now stands at 36 after the Cubs outrighted Brad Snyder to the minors. He also elected FA.

Also, 8 Cubs minor leaguers elected FA; Mitch Atkins, Russ Canzler, Jason Dubois, Jeff Gray, Bryan LaHair, Scott “DieHard” McClain, Mario Mercedes, and Mark Reed.

There not big, but I thought I would post them anyways.

First one:
(@Jim_Duquette) #Cubs Quade-"we're looking at 1st base hard, its a priority but we're leaving all of our options open to improve the team."

Second one:
(@Jim_Duquette) #Cubs manager #MikeQuade -"we feel real good about our pitching so we'd have to be blown away to trade any of it."

2nd base is just as big as a hole as 1st base..

I'd be very happy grabbing Uggla and LaRoche..

That would be nice.

Cubs may be interested in trading for Gordon Beckham via MLBTR.
