What are you smoking?

You wouldn't want Uggla to replace our POS 2nd baseman?

You will give Uggla a 4 year contract worth about 50M? That's a joke because that's what he wants.

He does not play D, he hits for a OK average. But, he hits hr and drives in runs.

Cubs may be interested in trading for Gordon Beckham via MLBTR.

Didn't he just turn down a 4 year 48M from the Marlins? I think he did and that's why I brought that up. Also, if Lee is doing well and he's ready to be called, what do the Cubs do then? That would be hard, unless Castro to 3rd if they have no on there.

Maybe he's tired of playing in front of no fans.
:smug2:

Hak Ju Lee coming up is probably more of a stretch than us signing Uggla at this point.

That's what I would do then, but I don't know if it will be worth it. A trade could be harder now with Gonzo out until, pretty much, opening day.

Also, have at 10M for Uggla and around 20M for Gonzo a year will be adding more and probably uping the payroll again.

Maybe, but the Marlins aren't bad, but not good enough to make the playoffs. They usually play good and try to make a play for the playoffs.

Right now D and pitching wins gams and the WS. Look at the Giants. The Cubs pitching is OK to good (at least to finish out the year). But, the D is pathetic and Uggla will not help at all. Gonzo will help that, but I still woudn't overpay.

I'll take a guy that is at best average defensively and mashes the ball at 2nd..

Starlin has a shitload of range at short to cover quite a bit.

Don't get me wrong, he will kill the ball at Wrigley (but really who wouldn't?). Uggla is not a FA, so the Cubs would have to get up spects and a big extension.

BTW...FYI...the Marlins broke off extensions with Uggla and will likely trade him now (the Tigers are interested). However, Uggla's agent(s) still wants to talk with the Marlins about an extension.

The offer was for 4 years at 48M. The offer the Marlns offer Uggla.

Well.. maybe he wants out of Florida.. His agents might just BS some negotiations then push for a trade also.
