Poles said he drafts best player available. So there’s more than a 50% chance the best player at any pick is someone other than a wr or Olineman.

I think you guys take canned interview answers to heart too much.

No GM is going to say they draft for position because they know it implies that they will reach for a position of need.

The biggest one I see is his comment about second and third wave guys in FA. That’s who he likes. Lol. He’s just telling you the bears aren’t spending this off-season. You think he’s just like never going to sign a high profile guy or something? He’s just talking during a press conference and giving the best answer he can. He’s talking to the media. Breaking News: NFL GM’s aren‘t forthright with the media. And they often use them. They lie to the media to put stories out. They use the media for contract negotiations, trade negotiations, etc. just lol at how I’m constantly having to read about what Ryan poles told some media member that means nothing.

The Bears have so many needs that if a run on wide receivers happens, so be it. Just grab the best player available, regardless of position, that fell due to the run on receivers and go from there. I want them to get 2 wide receivers in the 2nd round but I'd also be very happy if a top prospect fell to them simply because of the run on receivers.

Lol
That’s funny because when I express concerns about poles not doing anything big for Fields, like getting him a bonafide starter, everyone here said “Poles said he is going to build thru the draft not free agency”.

So we only believe what Poles says when it is best for your argument? I see

So after all that, the Chiefs not only couldn't get two 1s, they couldn't get a 1 better than #29, lol. Man, tough for the Chiefs. That's a lot of picks, true, but none are premium picks.

Wow. Just stunning. I can't believe Miami gave up that much. 5 draft picks, and then you pay him $120 over 4 years. Jaw-dropping.

The Chiefs were over a barrel with a guy that it became obvious they just couldn't pay without handcuffing the franchise for years, and then Miami gives them 5 draft picks on top of it (and they'll have three picks in the top 50 and five picks in the top 103 this year). On top of that, if he had played the one more year on his contract in KC, Miami could have signed him at this time next year, and the Chiefs get zero in return. Highway robbery. Now Veach has got to make those picks count and load this team up for the next 3-4 years.

@Bear_Assed what are your thoughts on that tyreek trade?
I think if Poles/bears made this move, everyone here would be thrilled. But ONLY because he wound up elsewhere, it’s seen as a bad move for Miami.

No matter how full of shit you are (not you specially), you at least know this is true

Yeah, but why would the bears be in the market for tyreek hill right now? You’re all mad about them not going after the guy. Complaining about Poles not picking up the phone. But KC isn’t trying to trade for Darnell Mooney or a guy they just let leave in Pringle. They want picks. The Bears dont have the resources. And trading away a bunch of resources for a guy like Hill is exactly what I thought the Bears are trying to avoid anyway. You’re being negative and creating this anti Poles narrative, but what you want them to do is questionable at best. Yeah, lets just trade all our picks for a wr and pay the guy 30 million. great idea.
The point went wayyyy over your head

I think I'd be happy to have tyreek hill but still realize it was a huge overpay. At least we'd have a qb he matched up well with though

I get we weren't trading for Hill.....but this is what "supporting your young qb on a rookie contract" looks like (not signing defensive players and special teamers)

LT Armstead
G Williams
RB Mostert
RB Edmonds
FB Ingold
WR Hill
WR Wilson Jr.

In addition to resigning a number of in house offensive FA. They might still be 5th-8th best team in the AFC.

Now watch them trade for Jimmy G!

Any pick within the top 50 is a premium pick. Are there levels, sure but top 50 picks in general hold alot of value.

Not a single person had anything bad to say when we traded for Mack which is pretty similar to this trade, seeing how it was years ago and the $ has gone up significantly since then.

No more excuses for Veach. He's gotta hit on these picks now, for sure. And his track record isn't great. Who are his best draft selections ever? Nick Bolton and Creed Humphrey?

Here's every single Brett Veach pick:

2018:
Breeland Speaks
Derrick Nnadi
Dorian O'Daniel
Armani Watts
Tremon Smith
Kahlil McKenzie

2019:
Mecole Hardman
Juan Thornhill
Khalen Saunders
Rashad Fenton
Darwin Thompson
Nick Allegretti

2020:
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
Willie ***
Lucas Niang
L'Jarius Sneed
Mike Danna
BoPete Keyes

2021:
Nick Bolton
Creed Humphrey
Joshua Kaindoh
Noah Gray
Cornell Powell
Trey Smith

He ain't no John Dorsey. Gotta make these count now.
