Segment at 1:06 is interesting. Talks about not feeling pressure or getting nervous but needs to warm up to the game when it starts. Just shows how poorly these OCs communicated with their QB. Talk about a guy that would benefit from scripted plays to start the game. I'd make sure to throw in a bootleg or 2 in there as well to get that fire started.

Talks about getting a HC that can control a clock near the end. (y)

I had the opposite experience — hated the food in Dallas. The chicken wings were those huge dino wings/super nasty. The pizza tasted like cardboard and I am a thin crust guy. And the expensive dinner spots were just average. Chicago always gets ranked high in nationwide food rankings — even #1 quite a few times. McCarthy will definitely enjoy the food scene here.

No knock on Dallas. To each their own. But there was literally nothing that I particularly enjoyed about the food scene while I was there - very forgettable. And as far as bbq/plenty of great rib joints here in Chicago.
My boss from Dallas (originally born and raised) calls it "big Schaumburg."

Historically how often are they right? Do we have some backtesting with these betting odds with other coaching vacancies?

It just means a lot of money is coming in on Ben Johnson. It takes a lot to double the odds that quickly. Is that cause of inside information who knows.

Arthur Smith in the morning and then Big Mike in the evening.

If you are betting money on Bears coaching vacancy, you probably have a gambling problem. Just saying.

Yeah I don’t gamble so I don’t know. Well unless you count a $20 fantasy league entry and slots once every five years.

Here is a scenario that is very possible:

Bears like Ben Johnson the most
Bears like Mike McCarthy 2nd most
Bears don't really like anyone else that much

BJ tells Bears he is interested but is non committal until after the playoffs are over.
McCarthy tells the Bears he is very interested and willing to be the coach. However, if not given an offer, he is going to interview with the Saints to see how that goes.

What do you do? Lose McCarthy now and gamble that BJ says yes and risk not getting either? Or penciling in McCarthy now?

Decisions Decisions...
If the only other job out there for McCarthy is the Saints and they're offering it to him then he's going to take it. He's out of contract so no money coming in and these guys just want to be out there coaching instead of sitting at home and Ben Johnson is too big a name for him to take a chance of beating out for the Bears job.

The McCaskeys will not hire Monken because he swears a lot.
Speaking of Monken, i watched the latest episode of "Hard Knocks AFC North" and noticed i haven't seen Todd Monken in one single episode. There's a guy who's name i think is Zachory Orr and every time they show him they put Offensive Coordinator under his name. Anyone know what that's all about or anyone seen Monken at all and i somehow missed him in any episode?

I'm not so sure that would be the reason that keeps them from hiring him. There can't be any HC's that don't swear a lot and if there is then it's a very small list. It's just football.

They are basically out on Ben Johnson. Bears fans are notoriously stupid & easy marks who bet with their hearts more than just about any other fanbase.

You're right---It is a small list:

Lovie Smith
Marc Trestman
John Fox
Matt Nagy
Matt Eberflus

The "no cursing" thing is real. Beat reporters have talked about how there's a pretty strictly enforced "no cursing" rule at Halas Hall for coaches, players and visitors.

Source?

I'd say it's more likely Poles had an agreement with Ben Johnson from last year. That's why they kept Eberflus because Ben wanted to run it back one more time.

See. We can all throw shit against a wall.

They won’t make the organizational moves that Ben Johnson wants to see while the Raiders already have made some and are willing to make the rest if he takes their job. Simple as. He was obviously intrigued by Chicago, but it seems pretty much done deal once Detroit’s eliminated.

Florio just said the Bears need to fire Ryan Poles to get Ben Johnson. The Bears are not firing Poles.

Inb4 “OMG FLORIO DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING GRRR” lmao yeah right. If Mike Florio was saying the Bears hiring Johnson was inevitable you’d be screaming it from the rooftops. This goose is cooked kiddo’s.

Can McCarthy go from Texas BBQ to Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beefs, and deep dish? Seems like a trade down. NO makes sense because French, cajun, and creole food is really good.
As someone who has been to all three places this year and really went in on the local eats, NO wins and it isn’t even close.
