Florio just said the Bears need to fire Ryan Poles to get Ben Johnson. The Bears are not firing Poles.

Inb4 “OMG FLORIO DOESN’T KNOW ANYTHING GRRR” lmao yeah right. If Mike Florio was saying the Bears hiring Johnson was inevitable you’d be screaming it from the rooftops. This goose is cooked kiddo’s.

Oh well then. Johnson cares more about his ego than winning if this is the case and I don’t care. He will never win that division let alone get out of the AFC but he will be able to draft his Sam Howell.

Only way I’ll be upset is if it comes out he wanted to come here but Warren or Poles were to stupid to want him.

Maybe provide a link to this statement. I'm sure everyone here believes every word you type.

Rapoport just said Ben's comment was his interviews went well, end of story.

You're right---It is a small list:

Lovie Smith
Marc Trestman
John Fox
Matt Nagy
Matt Eberflus

The "no cursing" thing is real. Beat reporters have talked about how there's a pretty strictly enforced "no cursing" rule at Halas Hall for coaches, players and visitors.
I can see if they’re at an all-hands formal meeting or hosting a benefit, but if that’s true about the no cursing thing and we’re talking about a football team at a football facility, then that’s absurd. What a joke this franchise has become.

Yes, it's basically everyone guessing what BJ wants because he's the talk of the town. He's been very tight lipped about everything so I doubt any of the media know anything at this point.
Bahaha yeah keep telling yourself that. OK. Ben Johnson just CANNOT WAIT to be a with a GM who took Caleb Williams over Jayden Daniels, Rome Odunze over Jared Verse and Darnell Wrong over Jalen Carter. Who also traded thirty-second overall for Chase Claypool.

Everything you hear in the media about him is coming from his agent. It’s all about what is in the best interest of his client and how can they both make the most money.

Kevin Warrens job, supposedly is to get Poles top choice hired and at the cheapest amount possible.

Both of these people need leverage to accomplish their goals. How does his agent create leverage? Need multiple teams interested and project that BJ is interested. How does Warren create leverage? He needs a bunch of candidates that are interested.

And how does BJ saying that he wants Poles fired accomplish leverage...?

I don't know how it will play out, but remember when this whole process started, I was the one who originally floated the idea that, for all the talk of Johnson and Poles really liking each other, that target one was always Johnson, and that Warren may try to leverage that to get Poles fired.

This stuff from Florio could easily be coming from Warren's camp.

Did he say that? Only thing I have read is he doesn’t want the appearance of forcing people out of their jobs. Yes he probably does prefer to bring in his own GM and have full roster control I’d imagine all of the candidates would prefer that.

His agent might not be creating leverage for Chicago either. I think the Jaguars check all of his boxes, he might still want to go there we just don’t know.

I had the opposite experience — hated the food in Dallas. The chicken wings were those huge dino wings/super nasty. The pizza tasted like cardboard and I am a thin crust guy. And the expensive dinner spots were just average. Chicago always gets ranked high in nationwide food rankings — even #1 quite a few times. McCarthy will definitely enjoy the food scene here.

No knock on Dallas. To each their own. But there was literally nothing that I particularly enjoyed about the food scene while I was there - very forgettable. And as far as bbq/plenty of great rib joints here in Chicago.

Dallas does have a couple top of the line steakhouses.

I have 3 giant red flags with Johnson that I have prepared to gas light myself into believing he wasn’t the one.

1. He sounds like Dick Jauron
2. His hero’s are Martz, Gase, and Schoop
3. Eberflus shut him down 3x over the last two years.

Now we can all cope in peace, you’re welcome.
