If they hire Carroll over Monken or Brady I’d probably give up on this team.

The same sources told him Johnson to the Bears a week before? Seems like his sources dont have a clue either.

Can McCarthy go from Texas BBQ to Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beefs, and deep dish? Seems like a trade down. NO makes sense because French, cajun, and creole food is really good.
McCarthy doesn't seem to be particularly picky

I dont think anyone out there tweeting really does. The point I was making still stands for me though.

If this was in person then they are Rooney Rule compliant and supposedly they’re taking McCarthy out to dinner tomorrow after the meeting
The latest scuttlebutt is that Warren is the fly in the ointment with regards to Johnson coming here. Supposedly Poles and Johnson are comfortable with each other but Warren has a stick up his ass over having a proven "leader of men".

If that is the case, McCarthy potentially is a compromise between the two of them (Poles and Warren).

Here is a scenario that is very possible:

Bears like Ben Johnson the most
Bears like Mike McCarthy 2nd most
Bears don't really like anyone else that much

BJ tells Bears he is interested but is non committal until after the playoffs are over.
McCarthy tells the Bears he is very interested and willing to be the coach. However, if not given an offer, he is going to interview with the Saints to see how that goes.

What do you do? Lose McCarthy now and gamble that BJ says yes and risk not getting either? Or penciling in McCarthy now?

Decisions Decisions...

TBH in that scenario mccarthy probably waits.

I'm guessing most teams are going to wait on ben johnson, at least the 3 of the jags/raiders/bears.

Saints are in cap hell and I'm sure mike far prefers the bears job, there is a reason he's meeting with the bears the first moment he can vs. the saints.

Absolute best case scenario will be for the lions to get plowed this weekend and BJ be able to take in person interviews

Agreed although I am ALMOST rooting for the Lions because I really want the slurping over Daniels to stop atleast for the moment.

You have to wait it out. Johnson has the potential to be here Caleb’s entire career. Don’t see that happening with McCarthy he is to old and fat people can go down hill fast at his age.

I don’t think the Bears have the patience for it though. Warren is to stupid and probably thinks McCarthy is his Andy Reid moment.

It’s 8 days. They should really wait it out, if he chooses the Raiders so be it. If McCarthy is gone hire Monken.

McCarthy is a proven commodity. If he wants the job and the Bears like him, he's probably hired by next week.

If I prefer Johnson, I wait. I personally don't want McCarthy anyway. Fast respectability but the team won't be special.

Why would anyone hire someone other than the guy they want unless he's no longer available? If I miss out on #2 in the process, I move to #3. It's not an exact science anyway.

Are you basing this off DBB?
