why do the Raiders even want Johnson this bad? They have no talent right now, he isn’t what they need. They need to build from scratch and need a guy to hold the team together while they do it. They aren’t at the maximizing Xs and Os stage yet.
Is this serious? Why would a team hire anyone less than whomever they deemed the best coach? If they think BJ is the best candidate, why would he not be able to "hold the team together" while rebuilding? Seemingly every year there is an unexpected worst to first in the NFL.

Maybe because he’s good? 🤷‍♂️

Yea. Not sure why a team with a hc opening would want the consensus top candidate.

The better question is why in the world would ben johnson want to go there outside of tom brady stroking him under the table?

The practical part of going to the Raiders makes zero sense. Mahomes in the same division. Both the Broncos and Chargers are on the rise (even though Herbert struggles in big games and Nix is a wildcard). No offensive talent except a [very good] rookie TE and no easy future answers to improve that.

Johnson made it clear what he wanted and the Raiders have done a better job than the Bears at giving him it.

If he believes he doesn't need a top flight QB prospect, just time and the right GM - why would you think he'd want to come here?

Yeah because the Raiders gave their previous HCs time...

Davis family have been as bad of owners as the mccaskeys. There are a ton of bad owners in the NFL.

That stadium is packed with opposing fans every game.

So basically just money and tom brady giving him a handy. If he goes there he's not as smart as we all assumed, passing on coaching caleb, trevor and jayden daniels for Aidan O connell.

Yeah because the Raiders gave their previous HCs time...

All the reports of what johnson "wanted" are just bullshit. No one knows truly what he wants.

No Poles
No Warren
Also alignment with a GM, possibly one he has a part in choosing. You seem awfully upset about another individual getting to choose his own future.

And he gets to have a say on who his GM will be.

As pathetic as the Raiders have been in the last 25 years or so,in the Super Bowl era, they still have more championships than the Bears.

MIN will keep both QBs. They’d be dumb not to
They’re going to have to open the checkbook for Darnold.

Plenty of desperate teams in the NFL. It’s not likely that Minnesota will be the highest bidder, and Darnold could see this as his actual payday opportunity.

I doubt Darnold is back with Minnesota.

Technically, we don't know if that's actually the case.

What I do know, is Ben Johnson was standing on the sideline looking all doe-eyed at the Bears offense the last time the Lions and the Bears played each other.

For Ben specifically, the Bears are absolutely the best option on the board.

Laughing at Tom Brady
Tom Brady gets to hang out with Johnson the next two weekends while nobody else can talk to him since he is announcing the games. What a joke this whole league is. Like their flags, rules only apply sometimes. I suppose since all it cares about is gambling money it makes sense to give Vegas everything.

It’d be one thing if Minnesota couldn’t afford to franchise tag Sam Darnold, but they can. So really it’s not an issue for them at all. Either they keep him and have a great backup waiting in the wings or they trade him for a nice package and start JJ McCarthy.

One franchise is bending and breaking every rule they can to get their guy while the other franchise is worried about swearing. Bears are not a grown-up NFL franchise. Crazy to get wang whipped by the Raiders too, just shows how far they’ve fallen.

And what about all the other franchises who have openings right now?

That's a big if. Don't discount that Goff was also a top flight QB prospect.
